To answer a few of your questions: I would not suggest casting a spell more than once, especially at the same time. You don't know how that could impact the spell, and it could cause unwanted results. Any spell can backfire by taking the absolute extreme circumstance and making it true. Love spells are usually considered unethical for this reason, because if it's intended to be cast on a specific person, it can take away their right to choose who they want to be with romantically. A ramification of this is forced love instead of true love, as well as a lack of consent. Additionally, I don't think a love spell would be the best thing for you to start out with, as you aren't fully versed in how to prevent a spell from backfiring or having horrendous consequences. My usual recommendation for beginners is a simple luck spell for yourself. As for a book, all sources have their pros and cons. It is up to you which spell you'd like to use, but you should be well prepared before casting anything. I think you should research a bit more before attempting anything, especially a spell that can impact others.
It's great that you've been meditating, because the basis of being able to do any kind of spellwork is energy work. A spell is basically a means of raising and directing energy.
if you look in the love spells section you can get some ideas, but it's always more powerful to cast a spell you wrote yourself.
Take a look at the correspondences articles and get an idea of what colors, herbs, types of incense etc would be most useful. a lot of people like to coordinate casting w the phases of the moon also (waxing for things you are trying to bring into your life, waning for things you want to banish). the planets and moon signs might be helpful to consider too, depending on what your personal practice is.
I'll include the obligatory warning, because a lot of people here (myself included) are wary about anything that will interfere with someone else's free will. It would be unwise to try and cast a spell to bind someone to you or otherwise force them to fall in love with you, because everything that you put out in the universe can have ramifications down the line that come back on you. Now that being said, not everyone feels that way, and if don't include things like the threefold law or beliefs about karma in your practice then you may not think this is an issue. but as you said, you're a beginner, and I want to make sure you're aware that you need to consider it.
One of the suggestions that often gets made in these situations is to try a spell like a honey jar, which can sweeten someone's disposition toward you. If your relationship would not have potential it wouldn't work but it wouldn't actually force someone to have feelings for you, just make these feelings stronger if they have potential to exist.
