Nameless Deities?

I am curious about the way I practice or worship.

I have been leaving offerings to a nameless God for a couple years. It came about when I began once again to practice witchcraft in 2018. I set up an altar to a deity I've sensed since I was young. I always sensed this deity as a male. On the altar I sensed the colors to use to be red and blue. I started to get a sense of what to add. This deity had a liking for masks particularly masquerade masks.

Last year I sensed a change in deity. I now sensed a deity with a fondness for the colors red, yellow, and green. I decorated a figurine I found at a local thrift with green, red, and yellow ribbon and my favorite incenses come in these colors.

I am wondering if this way I am doing things is a normal thing for others?

Has anyone worked with deities that do not specifically have names?

Both deities I sense as male.

Has anyone worked with an all male pantheon?

I don't know exactly what I am confused about. I feel like it must seem I've made these deities up, but on another level they feel real to me.

I'm also starting to consider they are not deities at all but perhaps spirits I may be sensing if any believe here in that sort of thing?

Thanks for the listen.

Any thoughts?

While I wouldn't worship them. It's very possible in working with nameless Gods and Goddess. I'm sure some people may frown upon the idea, since you wouldn't know what it is able to do, but as long as the being does not harm anyone than I don't see the problem. As for Gods and Goddess being nameless than again that's possible. There are many spirits who were cut of from mythology. This can be many reasons.

They will often come to me with no name at the start and it isn't until I do some research on their mythology does the name come to mind. For a while their was a spirit in my life whom was around me for a short while. I knew the energy was more feminine and I knew it was blue. My clairvoyance had picked up on the fact that she wore long blue robes. I have never picked up a name. This also may be due to the fact that maybe the name was not off this world so the being didn't past it down to me because of this reason.

It's more likely a spirit than a deity. It may also be testing you in a way to see how patience you are. I've mainly worked with a female pantheon as of the moment, but that's due to healing my feminine energy. You may feel like your making it up because you may be worried that you are. After all who doesn't hand out their name to others when meeting?

On my path not knowing spirits name is very normal to me. Since I may be trying to help an earthbound spirit cross over, they don't hand out their names to me at all. I may doubt their not real or I may feel like I'm seeing things during the moment, but I'm also able to get friends to confirm that their is something in that room and I could do the work in helping it cross. Even after that I would not get a name.

If you know others outside of online who do similar work as you. You can always ask them if their really is a spirit nearby to help with the doubt. Just let things be for now and you can always ask. "Ah hey, you wouldn't mind if I had some sort of name to refer you by?" And maybe slowly you might get something overtime.

Thank you DragonEarth for your response.

I've never been harmed working in this way.

As for people who share my beliefs offline, there isn't anyone. There are a couple people whom are friends of mine who understand I walk a shamanic path and who give me gifts in respect to this, but none whom I know who practice a form of similar paganism

I don't know any witches, and of course not all are necessarily religious.

I do however trust my own instinct and do not fear what I work with. I trust my intuition with the information I have received.

This feels more natural to me than the times I've attempted working with specific deities.

None have really called to me with the exception of three. Bastet, Anubis, and Athena, but I've never really found myself wanting to work with any of them.

I'm comfortable working with these anonymous deities. It feels more natural to me, less forced.

I suppose I am just wondering if any others have done it the same way.

I see many speak of deities that are well known and I realize mine aren't known at all.

Makes it difficult to speak of my pantheon where neither has a name....

I can only thank my lucky stars there are only two nameless spirits I leave offerings to.

I, too, have a (Not so) nameless deity, also male, that I honor. Over the years I've just call him The Great Spirit, as he seems to be a creator god, Native American in origin and has been with me over several lifetimes. I've invented a name for him, too, as it seems to fit his persona, but overall, he's the guy who's names stick to him like water on a duck, lol!

In my life I have a Deity or Deities who manifest regularly. Never was a name(s) given, but I worship the Goddesses Inanna, Ishtar, Aphrodite, Venus, etc .. so I think they must be the same or similar. Always for good, never anything negative, always good guidance.
