Are you seeking to find a familiar or become one? Seeking a familiar there are many suggestions on how to connect with an animal or creature. Many believe they are connected through past life bonds or experiences and many believe that your familiar will seek you out.
If you want to become one, I honestly have never heard of such a thing. If you are looking to build a connection with someone as a companion or support, you can use many different spells such as a honey jar spell. Developing a companion or familiar relationship with someone does not necessarily require a spell but rather meaningful intentions and interactions. If you are seeking to transform into an animal to become a familiar, that isn't physically possible, however you can utilizeastral projection or lucid dreaming/meditation to do just that. Many have been successful in connecting with a creature in this way, feeling and seeing everything they do while in this meditative state.
In order to be successful in spell casting and developing your skills, you must develop your foundation and understanding as to what is real and not real in the terms of magic and what is possible and not possible. Once you have this foundation, you will understand and manifest much quicker the things you are seeking.
I hope this helps a little. Do not be discouraged, only grow from the things you have learned.
Not to ruin anything, but you can find or summon a fimiliar, but you cannot become one. Some people think its possible, but i have reviewed somemof those spells on here, and they wont work. Ive actually tried them to make sure. I wouldnt waste your time on becoming one, but summoning one and possibly huilding a connection is the best alternative.
Although I know nothing on 'becoming' a familiar, summoning one (though rather tricky) isn't quite hard. However if the answers you receive here aren't to your liking or if you feel others are merely attacking your beliefs(which they aren't trying to do I'm sure, merely advising you in the best way they understand possible), You could always attempt seeking answers from the astral plane, but that method may be a dangerous one. Either way, good luck in your future endeavors.

What do you believe they are? Historically, people thought they were demonic creatures gifted to witches by the devil to do their evil bidding. Today, there are two main beliefs concerning familiars, the first is they are physical animals you share a sacred bond with, the second they're astral beings you share a bond with.
If you are wanting a physical familiar, I would take the time to connect with your pet [assuming you have one] observe how they act around magickal items and ritual spaces. If they seem to sense the energy and be respectful of it, they would make a better familiar than a pet that zips around without a care in the world [granted, some people have rats, snakes and fish as familiars and I doubt they tip-toe around ritual circles] Treat them the best way you can [say a raw food diet, or make your own pet food for them] give them plenty of exercise, and meditate with them when they're ready to relax by your side. Once you pick your familiar, write a ritual dedicating yourself to the pet. Call on your deity or a deity associated with that animal. State who you are, the animal's name, how you plan to work with the animal, ask the deity for guidance and for their blessing. [be sure to give an offering as thanks]
If you are wanting a spiritual being as a familiar, I would make a ritual summoning, calling on a spiritual being, specify what you are looking for and what you will give in return. When one reaches out [it might take a few days/weeks] hash out a contract with the being and ensure it is an equal partnership of sorts so they aren't taking advantage of you, and include a clause in case you need to break the contract [if you try to take advantage of me, our contract is terminated]
