Help making a planchette

I'm making a Ouija board from scratch, although I'm not sure how to go about making a planchette. For insight I'm using a plywood board 22" by 17" inches and I'm going to sand it and eventually stain it black and carve the letters and numbers into the wood. I'd appreciate any tips or ideas.

Many things can be used as a planchette. It is effectively just a pointer as the person/people are typically the mediums. As long as it is large enough for one or more people to lay fingers onto it, and it is smooth (and light) enough to slide around easily without wobbling or falling over, then it will do the trick. Having it arrow-shaped or otherwise having some sort of defined point or eyelet to specify a target letter is helpful.

If you want to use a crystal/stone, I represent ones with connection to easily flowing energy, spirits, and associations with Oracle's, mediumship, and higher-level connections.

Variations of opal are a good example as the stone is associated with cosmic consciousness and psychic/mystical visions.

Another option is to have several stones, especially if you work with several spirits/entities you already have a connection with. Choose stones reflective of their energies/nature/symbolism, and use a specific single stone for each individual. ... You might think of it as programming specific entities into a speed-dial.
