Tools you don't use

Let's start a discussion thread here.

What are some tools you don't use in practice and why?

  • Athame- I do not usually direct energy with an athame or wand in my practice. I will use my hands for directing energy from time to time.
  • Chalice- I don't usually use a chalice for anything other than storage, though I do like to have a few around, I like to keep small smudge bundles in them. They do not serve a ritual purpose for me.
  • Cauldron- I honestly do not burn herbs loose too often, and rather use them to dress candles in candle workings. I do not find a cauldron necessary for my own practice.

What are some of the tools you don't find yourself using within your own practice? What are the reasons for this?

I won't say that I don't use it, but the tool I probably use the least is my Wand. The wand is generally used in working with the Fae as the iron of the Athame repels them. But I don't engage in rituals involving the Fae, preferring instead to confine myself to Deity work.

There are some rituals involving the Wand that are specific to the Gardnerian Tradition, and for those I, of course, use my Wand. I have a very nice one for this purpose made of Elder (The Lady's Tree) and 5000 year old Bog Oak to represent the God.
