I have been planning on working with loki. I have made some preparations, but am not very sure how to go about with the entire thing. I started working with odin two months ago, and I felt his presence during the time I was carving the totem for him and making new runes, so I knew how to go about with things. I did not feel ny such presence during the time I was making loki's totem, so now I am stumped about what to do next.
When you say working with, do you mean working with or worship? Those are two different things.
Working with often involves a goal you want the deity's help with,while worship is more giving offerings and building a relationship with the deity.
If you do mean working with, it's possible Loki doesn't want to help you with your goal. If you mean to worship Loki, it's possible He just has a different approach than Odin. His energy might be more subtle, or He might be waiting a bit longer before making Himself known.
When one tries to work with Loki, keep in mind that his function is to force change in a normally ordered system. He does not operate within the same ways as the other Northern deities. Thus, you will not see what you expect.
Many of us that follow the Northern Path acknowledge that Loki has influence on things. He is to be respected and not ignored but when you invite his presence, be aware that you will be working within his rules and ways and not your own. With that in mind, it is helpful to your own cause to perhaps offer to him to not twist or interfere with your workings rather than to invite his influence on your workings.
On another note, as stated above, remember that not all the entities in the path favor him. If you exclusively honor him as your patron deity, it is quite possible that you will lose valuable assistance from other entities. Balance is key when working a path that is polytheistic.
I didn't know the difference between 'working with' and worship. I have been worshiping odin and have asked for his help in some workings. So, I'm kinda doing both.
I want to establish a similar relationship with Loki. Where I have been worshipping him long term, and ask for his help in workings that involve his areas of expertise.
I also need to learn the art of trickery from him, which I have to use many times and I want to improve upon it. So, I also want him to help me with that.
As for the thing about working with multiple deities, i have decided that I am going to work with three deities. One for the professional front, one for the personal life and one for overall development. I've decided to have odin for overall development, loki for professional front and am undecided on the personal relationships god. I will keep in mind not to worship a god who isn't on good terms with poki to prevent problems in managing both personal and professional life.
I will also research on Loki and the offerings and stuff he likes for the first ritual.
