Good evening,
I'm hoping someone here can answer my question. I'm of the strong belief that every intention or spell has a cost, be it to provoke something positive or negative. Does anyone know which kind of branch of magick this could fit into?
A bit more info:
In a way, it's kind of the opposite of the belief that everything will come back threefold. It's been my experience that regardless if I want something good to occur, I am also giving something up in return to keep the balance. It's made me hesitant for years to really get into practicing, because I'm afraid of the consequences.
So I'm hoping that by finding the branch that shares this belief, they might also have a solution for this problem.
By saying that every intention or spell has a cost, be it positive or negative, you are somewhat agreeing to the fact that every action has a reaction. And with Magick comes some kind of consequences attached.
As soon as you practise magick, you start to manipulate energy. You start to cause chaos in the natural flow of energy. And when you start chaos or manipulation in the universal energy to your benefit, or directed at something or someone, good or bad, we are going to pay a price or we will have to give to gain from the Universe. Witchcraft and Magick together with it's belief, understands that when we cause chaos and manipulation, we must be open to receiving and dealing with what may come our way. That's why it is so important or rather a vital practise when it comes to magick and spells, is to perform a cleansing ritual. To eliminate the negative energy. Because we must understand that, we choose to practise our craft, and when we choose magick, we must accept that as much as there is positive energy, there is negative energy aswell which we open ourselves to receive. The Universe comprises of both positive and negative. That's the balance we shift when performing magick. And to restore that balance, we have to give back to gain something. So even if you want something good to occur, you are manipulating and shifting energy to work in your favour, so the only right thing to do will be, is to give something back.
To ensure balance is restored.
The threefold law or law of return is basically an ethical guideline in your own belief and practise. So basically you choose the 'how and what' you do to ensure you stay within ethical boundaries within your path and craft.
I share the belief in magick and I acknowledge that to gain, you give a little, to taste the sweet, you face some pain. And if you looking for a branch or belief system that has a solution for not giving anything in return for receiving something, then probably you will be searching for a one way street which will be hard to find.
You simply cannot receive only, without giving something in return. Works both ways only.
Trust you will continue practising Magick. And trust you anchor in your own Strength.
I'm more so looking for a branch that acknowledges that there is a cost, which might help me understand how to weigh up the benefit.
I've just been too afraid to practice, not knowing what I am paying if I do. I don't want to cause something terrible to happen by mistake, even if I worked for something good.
