´´coil to a boil,bubble to a trouble as (persons name) eats the delicious sweet potato make her/him feel worse then a rotten tomato´´

Cursing someone's food can curse them, so this might work. I would hold the potato and charge it with your negative energy, then drop it into the water and gaze at it while chanting. You can also do the opposite if you wish to bless them, or make them fall in love with you. The key is to charge the specific energy.

For this spell, I would say no. You are charging the food with negative intent and it would result in them getting food poisoning or an upset stomach. You cannot curse food in the hopes of them getting cancer. It is possible to cast a spell for a specific illness, but this specific spell would be general misfortune and not a specific illness type spell.
