Symbols have always had a special place in Magick. Symbols have been used to obscure information, but also preserve it. even those who do not share a language can communicate though symbols.

Symbols can help focus thoughts of both the conscious and unconscious mind during spell casting. This is possible because the mind has the ability to understand and focus on the meaning behind the symbol. There are many symbols in magick. Examples can be found in just about every major magickal belief.

An example that I am currently working on understanding fully is the kabbalah tree of life. It is a symbol composed of 10 circles (there is a hidden circle which makes 11) and 23 lines that represent 33 paths. This symbol is supposed to represent everything manifested, and unmanifested. Another good symbol is the Yin Yang, the Daoist symbol of Balance. It shows that even in the worst of times there is good, in the best of times there is bad. It shows a balance between opposites. Male and female are common uses for example.

What are some symbols and the meanings that any of you know? or want to know?
