Hello everyone, so ill try to put this as simple as possible. I am nots sure exactly what the moon card means when you get it in a reading? Dose it always mean something negative or is it postive or is it between? Because i did a reading on my first try on a question. I know it usally depends on the question.
So what do you guys think about the moon card in tarot? what effects have you had from doing a reading? Thanks.
I would never see the Moon card as negative. It is the representation of lunar, feminine energy at its most pure state. To better understand it, you may wish to look up the meaning of the moon in astrology and alchemy. It is subtle and does commonly mean there is an unrealized influencement going on. But it can be positive or negative. You mustn't read each card individually at face value but take into consideration the "mood" of the cards surrounding it to determine the tone of the card. They influence one another. Each card is like a puzzle piece, they interlock to complete the entire picture.
If I saw the tower with the sun and star cards flanking it and perhaps the three of swords below, I would read it as a tragic event involving a close relationship that had a hidden silver lining, a metaphorical light at the end of the dark tunnel. Obviously the event would have something good come out of it or may just seem bad to the querent. The point is, even the darkest of cards can be influenced by their surrounding neighbors.
The moon card can also be representing a person with the qualities of the card. You really need to use your instincts/intuition to tell the difference tho. Tarot is merely a tool, the true knowledge is not found on the outside but the inside.
Ahh okay because when i did get the moon card in my reading, at first i was confused on what it really meant. But i wasn't sure of it was negative or positive. But still i am new to taro and still learning tarot. But i do believe it had to do with something of a relationship starting. And some influencings going on and good influences. And i didnt really feel the card as negative either, i guess felt confused by it. because iam still learning tarot. Maybe i thought that it had to do with emotions maybe.
It often does reflect emotional influencement which then provokes mental influencement, just as the moon pulls at the ocean tides and the water inside of our bodies. During the full moon, people usually feel more intense emotions due to the natural pull of it.
Its good that you are trying to sense the meanings rather than just look them up. You'll become a great reader that way. You just need to learn to trust your instincts more.
That is true White, Thanks again. I hope i can find a really good tarot deck i feel connected too. I like the ones that have really beautiful artwork on them. :)
I'm like that too. The Rider Waite deck just wasn't nice enough for me. And many decks seemed too animated (like a cartoon) for my tastes. I personally use the Artist's Vision tarot. Some cards are really out there, but as an artist, I connect to the diversity of style and form. I enjoy how each card really has its own "personality" and uniqueness. It helps me to distinguish them from each other, like individual people.
One day, I will own Salvador Dali's tarot deck. It's $100. I don't think I could ever use it, just frame the whole deck in one big frame. He's my absolute favorite artist. If I had the money to throw away though, I would buy it and use it as my main deck. =)
I'm sorry, my deck is "The Artist's Inner Vision Tarot". Can you see why I forgot the name? Quite the mouthful! =P I've used it soley for about 10 years now.
