The Astral Plane/realm

Things in the astral plane aren't as simple or safe as one might think. Here's some reasons
1) The Astral Plane reflects Real-Life, so what happens there, somewhat effects here.
2) There are different creatures roaming the astral plane.
3) The laws of physics generally apply, but there are cases that they don't.
4) In the astral plane, sometimes animals aren't really animals. It's best to avoid anything suspicious.
5) Magick has less limits in the astral plane, so beware!

There are ways of keeping safe from things in the astral realm, these are a couple ways.But they don't protect against everything.
1) Wear an amulet thats blessed in the physical realm.
2) Make a circle of salt around you in physical.
3) Avoid anything that breathes.
4) Wield a weapon in the physical realm. It will or should, project with you.

And thats a somewhat vague explanation of the astral plane.

"Avoid anything that breathes" gave me a chuckle. Short but sweet but it won't allow you to acquire much knowledge.

As for "wield a weapon", this may not be a wise idea. If you don't seem hostile, you'll usually be less likely to run into opposition. Just like in the physical world, holding a weapon displays intent to use it, and could cause suspicion that you're up to no good. Not to mention, if you don't know how to use a sword, you won't become Jet Li in the astral. It's best to stick with magick. You can, for instance (if someone tries to attack you) cast a wide fire protection that will be both offensive and defensive.

Its what I do. I prefer to give an outline, and safety procaution, and let people figure out the rest. I agree with you, but I do always keep my dagger on me, as it has nice magickal properties in the astral realm.

I wonder if psychic shielding would help you there.

Actually, yes. It would help you from mind-based attacks.

And while you are in the astral, you can create a physical shield of sorts.. Basically, the astral is the place I go to work on my energy manipulation.. It's much easier to manifest the energy there.. Though I have, on occasion, contacted some of the dangers that lurk in the astral.. They don't talk much, but are definitely not to be trifled with.. I suggest that, should anyone see or hear anything that isn't familiar to them, they leave the astral instantly, for their own sake..

From reading about the astral plane I am a bit(i might sound childish) frightened by the idea.
And how would one return to their bodies in case they came upon danger?
Another question I must ask is what do people and animals look like in the astral plane? How will I know if they are hostile or friendly? Are there any beings there that are friendly?
