Noble Fir . I like starting with Noble things. And well in My Book Nobble Fir was one of the few things I started studying. I often have seen it in Washington State and Oregon and in some northern area of California. The Cascade mountians I have seen it Lush out very often. These are wonderful tree's. I really Must say I Enjoy the scent. In Old Times Noble Fir was seen as Strength and Means of Immortality with some cultures. I do not recall where But I do recall in Medieval times Wise women .. Now known as Witches or Gypsy's. Would use The Noble Fir to ease Coughs and Soothe Muscle And Joint Aches. When I fine a Noble Fir I use the Needles. Fresh needles in such cases are best. Unless you are looking for more of Look or Alter item.

The needles that are fresh Contain an essential Oil with High Proportions of Expectorant Substances, Such as the common Lemon. That is one of the reasons it has a high treating Value for coughs. I do not use it very often since i cannot get any fresh needles at current Location But if you live and know where some are it is great to use. The Needles also contain Anti-inflammatory flavoniods, which is great for a fir needle tea. But please know what needles you use and not just grab any some may be posionus as well as they may have chemicals on them if they are near cities that are or do have a high population.

I have had the pleasure to bath in Fir essential Oil Which helps the skin and promotes blood circulation. I have at times suggested some people to use it as a type of Lotion to add into hand made lotions. It is good for sprains. i have treated in the past. Not that I have ever had one but have helped others for their medical issues. As well as suggested in to people to use it in special lotions for stretched muscles. And as a Common thing I suggest is Muscle aches. As well as rubbing the temples with the Noble Fir Oil it is good to relieve Headaches.

In more of a Magical Sense it is sometimes used in Litha and Yule. as decoration and such. In common time giving a bundle of Fresh Needles to someone has Meanings as such of I need more time or will be with you forever in time Especially if burned.

Hello fellow coven members, if any of you are feeling a bit stuffy or have allergies, I have a great remedy for sore throats/clearing sinuses!

Today I woke up with a sore throat, (pretty natural for me during spring time) It pursued me throughout the day and was rather bothersome. I quickly remembered that I had a small bag of sage leaves and remembered that they have their benefits with illness.

Heres what you do:

Get a mug or cup that you use for drinking tea. Pour hot water into it, and make sure you have sage leaves nearby (dried). Crush the leaves using a mortar and pestle, imagine your energy flowing into it as you do. Make sure the leaves aren't crushed too much. Get a tea ball and put the crushed leaves into it, continue to seep the tea. Put your intent into it as you do this, better to not be in front of anything distracting like the T.V, or a noisy home.

After doing this my sore throat was healed, and it is barely noticeable now. I definitely recommend it!

Medical Hebalism Part 1

Ok, introduction to hot/cold model of medical herbalism. First I will show how you can recognise a hot condition. Hot conditions are treated with 'cooling' herbs (eg. chammomile). When the patient presents, the first thing to do is to assess whether the problem is rooted in a hot or a cold condition. In a cold cndition, for example, the only way to restore health is to restore heat. The opposite is true of a hot condition. Patients in a hot condition seek cold things, like cold water, cool environments, less clothing or a cold compress. They are overactive, nervous, fidgety and restless in bed. Their bodies, eg. face, tongue and fingernails will show the colour RED. They will have sensations of heat and burning and may have a raised temperature. Headache will be relieved by COLD compress - confirming the condition as being hot.
Hot conditions require cooling herbs in order to prevent escalation of perspiration, pain, digestive overactivity...ie to halt EXCESS from the system.
Hyperthyroidism shows overactivity at a cellular level: Anxiety shows mental overactivity. In a hot condition cooling herbs restore balance when the body cannot manage alone. The idea is to assist the body in it's own recovery.
Next will be how to assess cold conditions, then how to choose your herbs :D
