But i have an amethyst quartz amulet that has a protection spell on it.... i was wondering if i had to charge the stone everynow and then or if i had to recast a spell on it?

Recharging the amulet now and then should be fine, especially if you feel it weakening. Placing it in view of the moon during the full moon is a good way to recharge it.

i agree with leona. i have a protection charm and i have never had to recast the spell on it, just recharge it.
