Chaos has a point, there's no use worrying over nothing. An 'enchanted item' could be for good or evil, which is it? If they won't tell you then be observant; better luck with school or work, more people asking you out, finding money randomly, or are you constantly loosing things, getting hurt, or having bad luck. Any of these and more could be a result of the item [protection is another option] this object could also be a spell that works over a period of time, so in a month when you forget about it the things above start happening. If they refuse to tell you seal it in salt [a bag of salt in a box works] and burry it, this should slow or despell whatever was cast on the item. Personally though I think your friend is trying to scare you by worrying about what it could be.
