"What is an Altar?"
An altar is any structure upon which offerings such as sacrifices are made for religious/spiritual purposes.
List of magick items/tools
Since you don't go into specifics about what magical items you seek to learn about, I'm going to assume you're talking about magical tools. Here's my list:

Images/statues/symbolism of the deity you are making the altar for.

Grimoire/Book Of Shadows . Is a handwritten book that containing spells, instructions for magic rituals and personal notes.

Athame . A director of energy used to create the magic circle.

Censer. in it, incense and herbs are burned to invite or make an offering to the deity. Also used for cleaning the ritual space.

Chalice . This hold liquids for use during the ritual.

Pentacle . A flat disk or at least a symbol of the pentagram.

Wand . Generally used to invite beings or for powerraising.

Cauldron . Fires are sometimes burned within them and can be used for magic potions/teas/brews. (Is also a symbol for the goddess.)

Bells . can be rung at specific points in rituals.

Broom . Used for cleansing.
