smudge sticks

Hi can anyone tell me how i go about using a sage smudge stick??? mainly for to protect my home and those in it...Many thanks x

Smudge sticks are used primarily for cleansing. Once the cleansing is done, then you put up protection, by means of crystals in your windows, salt at the openings into your place, even runes and charms hung at the door. Yeah, smudging is cleansing.
