What is the true purpose/symbol of a wand?

First and foremost, the wand, as any other tool, is used to boost your intent and concentration.
The wand is used to point the energy gathered to the desired goal/location/etc.

Wands/staffs have had many magical and ceremonial uses thruout the centuries. In tarot, they represent the element
They're mostly used as an energy manipulation tool.
Commonly used for invoking.
Some people use them. Some don't.

According to Donald Michael Kraig in his book Modern Magick, the wand is associated with the element fire, direction South, archangel Michael. Apparently some traditions associate the wand with air rather than fire. And yes, it is mostly used for energy manipulation and direction, or intent, as far as I can tell.

Wands are magical tools to help in various ways, like with many instrument it can have various applications and tge more you use it, the better you will work with it and the better it can help you obtain your goals. You can imbue energy and intent into it to charge it and use it in a spell to add focus and power to your spell or magical work. The more energy and intent you put into it, the more it will help you. The true purpose of anything belongs to each individual and their perspective on it orof it. If you want a wand for one purpise or to symbolize one thing then its up to you to make it what you will it to be. The answers are within yourself.
