Help a newbie?

I know there are already a lot of "hi I'm new" posts but I have some questions to ask. I've always tried to learn as much as I can about magic but I've never really had much in results and I was wondering what a beginner needs to focus on before casting spells. I know I need to learn about how and why magic works but do I need to do something along the lines of meditate? Or focus on where my energy comes from? What do I need to do to prepare for the future of casting spells and being serious about magic?

The basics are pretty much mandatory for any beginner, it allows you to know what you can and cannot do as well as learning things like: visualisation, grounding, centering and meditation.

We usually point people towards teh Staring Out forum and the Basics Expanded forums. They have a lot of great information in them.

There is a book that you can read, as a matter of fact I've read it already, the name of it is "Before You Cast A Spell by Gary McColeman" it has a wealth of information. I hope that this helps.
