I thought to share this story to to everyone to see if anyone can give insight,advice or help me with anything I did wrong. Here we go,
I lit a candle and sat cross legged a few feet from the candle. In a dark room. I then cleared my mind and relaxed for a bit. I started to look into the black obsidian crystal and used the glare a few feet away from the candle to view the crystals veins and other scratches within the crystal.
I then saw a dogs head, Once I saw this I stopped. To re frame an relax my self once again closing my eyes. When I was ready I started it all over and then I saw a heart.
I looked up the meanings of these and this is what I got from the research.
Still trying to make sense of the reading. a friend told me to use the symbol meanings that I find from research as interpretation and never use them as legit meanings and a full answer. For meanings mean different things to different indivduals.
So after this I looked into myself to try an figure out what that dog head means to me personally as well as the heart. I got friendship,loyalty,relationship, from the dog head and the heart is pretty straight forward love,romance,happiness, but a thought came across instatnly in my consciousness and mentioned that hearts can also bring hurt and to be ware of this as well.
So this is my first scrying attempt, again is there anyone who has any advice, thoughts, input that may help me ? the floor is open, and once again thank you for taking time to read my post. love an light !
Something to keep in mind when using symbolism dictionaries: they are very limited in scope. Ultimately the meaning of anything is up to you. Those dictionaries may be able to list teopes or broad meanings of a concept, but unless it reaonates with you strongly, I higjly doubt thenlisted possible meaning hold any weight.
You are better off taking some time in deep contemplation to see if there are any deeper meanings.
Consider the question you were trying to answer and how the images you saw may relate.
Well what I do is usually think of what the image means to me. If I cant figure one out, I look up the meaning and even then Im skptical. I also record alot of what I do, So Im hoping if images do represent themselves. Over and I have a meaning wrong, Ill figure it out threw my journals. Thank you!
No problem, Wasn't sure anyone was going to try the method I did. I posted it hoping someone could correct me where I went wrong, or advice me on things that could help me next time.
I used a big obsidian crystal. But alot of people know you don't have to use crystal, you can use a fire,incense smoke,tree's, use a cauldron with the water dyed black. There are many upon many different ways of doing this.
I use crystals. Because I have always been drawn to rocks an crystal for as far back as I can remember. Anyways, did you go threw with it? if so how was it an did you see anything ?
The hardest part I find isn't seeing but interpreting the final outcome an meaning.
I saw nothing this time and wondered if I had done something wrong or hadn't cleared my mind properly. However, it was my first attempt, so I'm going to try it again tonight, with a different crystal. I'll hopefully be posting a success in a few hours! :D
I was told and read in the research I have done, that crystals that have flaws,veins,clouds, are the best to use. I was surprised it work so efficiently but again thats why I made this post in hopes someone would lend criticism or advice. Tea reading is a good one too. I was once told that certain divination techniques can be harder an others easy. You just need to practice with trial an error. IM having a hard time with tarot been studying it for a few months now and man. You could try palm reading, tea leaf reading, too ! if you have anymore question or just want to chat message me ! I tried again, with a different crystal. NO success.
I felt inspired to try tea leaves. BAM! It worked so well, that I was actually startled. The image that appeared was so clear, that I distracted myself, looked at the leaves with my natural eye (just to make sure I wasn't forming an image in my mind from something that was obvious--like "finding shapes in the clouds"). To my natural eye, there was nothing to sea but wet leaves.
I re-grounded myself, cleared my mind, read the leaves again, and got the same image--even clearer and more well-defined.
I was told a mirror and water helps better. If it dont work the first time, you gotta keep trying. Same as with if it does work the more you try the better the results an thanks for the reply !
I, too, had my first scrying attempt..yesterday! I used my black cell screen. No candles. In my recliner with the television on. Unless purism is very important to you I think it has more to do with your ability to receive than the environment. I, too, saw animals (which I have never seen before with other venues: visions, dreams, etc) and looked up the meanings as you did. I think that it starts with definition as you and I did but from there it becomes entirely personal. It may be that as your subconscious works on what you saw as you go about your daily life you may find that the meaning just "comes" to you or you may have a dream in a day or two that explains the meaning and then you will go: "That's it!!!!"
