Wand material

do wants have to be made of wood, copper or crystal ? or can they be made of other materials.

You can make your wand out of whatever you like. Some use certain woods, metals or crystals that are associated with what the wand will be used for.

For example, I use a wand made of Sycamore. The sycamore is commonly associated with harmony, raising energy levels, prosperity, love, and success. I use it when calling to the spirits for prosperity rituals, bringing harmony, etc. I also have a selenite wand that I use when doing crystal healing and reiki.
The material used is really up to you. You can be as creative as you like. Though, using a wand is really up to the practitioner. You don't need one, but if you feel one would be beneficial to you, by all means make one!
I added a few links below for the magical properties of wood, should you decide to use it as the crafting base of your wand.
I've a friend that actually uses herb bundles in place of an actual wand. She has claimed great success with them as well.

Wands are pretty open to interpretation as far as materials go, as has already been stated. I've used a butter knife at one point. A friend of mine uses an old twig from a tree she liked. Several people I know have 'heavy zappers' made of crystals and a copper tube. Yet another person carved theirs out of a piece of wood.

You'd be surprised what can be turned into a wand. My mentor went to a ritual where the Samhain wand was a Tootsie Roll (type of candy), LOL :)
