Essential wormwood

Please spare me the myths and grandiose verbiage of wormwood and cutting off your own ear (absinthe was not Van Gogh issue). Has anyone worked with the distillation of wormwood? From my research I am not sure to use an steam distillation to get essential oil or a macerated alcohol distillation and then remove the alcohol. Most suggest the macerate method. But why not just cut to the chase ??? Inquiring minds what to know.

To spare you as you ask^ definitely go with steam distillation. Also I suggest keeping the hydrosol. I trust you've done your own safety research.
