Weird natural herbicide?

So, when I was ten, I was kinda... impulsive... And I decided to put some grass and three leaf clovers in a pot of hot water. I don't know why, but I did. Anyways, after stirring it for a couple of minutes, I put into a spray bottle, for I was curious on its effects on the environment. So I go and spray it on some clovers and the leaves turned brown. It was weird. I was wondering if there was a magical/ scientific explanation for this... Thing. Thank you

Hmm... That is interesting indeed! I am wondering, was the water still hot when you sprayed it onto the plant? If so that may have been what hurt the clover. Sudden heat can burn the leaves of plants similarly to how hot water will scald skin.

otherwise was there anything else in the water? Like soap, or oil, or was it literally just grass and clover chunks?

I thought it was the heat as well, and, of memory servers me, I did wait a while before trying it again. But what I do remember is that there were done roots and dirt too.
