Is it okay if I put food out for nature to eat

You mean like an offering to nature, in general? I don't see why not. Just be careful that it's not something toxic, and try to place it far away enough from anyone's home so that it doesn't attract pests into the house.

If you mean an offer for nature then yes, you can leave some. If you mean feeding wild animals then that is a bit of a yes or no answer. A few meals here and there wouldn't hurt them.

At an old area we used to have squirrels ask us for peanuts. It began when I went to a grove where they frequented and bent down to look at something. The squirrels as soon as I walked away far enough went to investigate the area I had been looking. Possibly looking for food. Soon enough we beckoned to them with peanuts I figured they may enjoy. After awhile when they saw us sitting outside they would come closer to us asking us for the nuts.
