Looking for a kind deck?

Post # 1
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I'm looking for a tarot deck with a kind and/or straightforward personality. Currently, my only deck is the Dark Wood Tarot deck, and while I love using it, it can be very mean/rude, and is very focused on shadow work. Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for nicer/simpler tarot decks? At the very least, ones that will be nice about telling me that I screwed up lol.

Not a tarot deck, but the Everyday Witch Oracle deck is a very positive kind. I have a copy of it, and even when it speaks of any negative things it's always in a very gentle manner.

And I just remembered, there is an Everyday Witch tarot version too!

In my experience with Tarot the kindest deck to work with is the Hanson-Roberts deck. It's the deck I use if I am doing a reading for someone who likes fortune telling but is uncomfortable with Paganism.

Also, remember that different decks will often feel different to different people. I cannot work with the Waite-Ryder deck as it gives me bad vibes. But I love working with the Celtic Circle deck. So it might be a matter of trial and error to find the one that works best for you.

I have a few decks, but the two I'm currently working with are the Disney Villians and Hocus Pocus. I prefer the Disney one [the feel of the cards, easy to shuffle, nice art, rather straightforward. Plus, if you know Disney, you can look at the character on a card and get a feel for what the message is] The Hocus Pocus one is fun, the art is kind of hit or miss [I'd say about 8 cards are yeesh to me] but it relies on intuition more than other decks I own. While most decks change the suit of pentacles to coins [Disney does that] Hocus Pocus changed all of the suits and even the names of certain cards [Death is Transformation The Devil is The Master] so while the wording in the booklet is nice, and the readings I've done are rather friendly and encouraging in tone, if you're new [I'd say the first year or two] I wouldn't use this one because it might get confusing.

Personally, I don't have a way to tell if a deck is nice or not. If I feel drawn to a deck, I get it and how we interact depends on if I need tough love or not. [but of my many decks, I only use 3 for readings. The rest are either for display or spells]

There are many different types of Tarot decks out there and they do indeed have personalities all their own. I have always found the Tarot of the Cat People to be a kind deck of cards to work with. It may be because I am a cat lover and stumbled upon this deck in an apothecary I use to frequent in my youth but I always love reading with this deck. It was one of the first decks I branched out with after learning a more traditional deck of Rider Waite. The Sacred Circle Tarot is another one I found to be a kind deck and it too is based off of the Rider Waite style however this one changes a few cards of the major arcana up with cards of a Celtic theme. I also enjoyand feelthe standard deck of cards is a kind choice when working with divination cards and they are easy to work with. A trusty deck of cards one is already familiar with is a great place to start when utilizing this form of cartomancy.

Below are a few links to the decks mentioned as well as some reference materials about the art ofcartomancy;

"The Forest of Enchantment is the archetypal dark woods of fairytale and folklore. Innthese woods live both humans and fantastic creatures, the wyrd, the fair folk, witches and wizards, shifters, and more. No reversed meanings for any cards are given. The divinatory meanings given are very much in line with commonly accepted interpretations, nothing too radical or brutal here. The advice offered is positive and solution oriented"
