Well, you should work with deities you feel closest to. You could start with looking into various mythologies for deities.

I know that I've prefered to work with 'darker' deities, because I'm not exactly a light and happy person.

It's usually best to work with deities who reflect on your personality. For example, if you're usually a happy person, you might want to work with Aphrodite. Or if you're usually brooding, you might want to work with a god like Apollo.

Just wondering - why would you consider Apollo brooding?

If you consider working with Greek deities, Aphrodite is good for love but for a proposal use Hera.

It would vary depending on religion, the following are just a few goddesses of love that I can remember. Greek is Aphrodite, Roman is Venus, Norse is Freya. I'm sure if you're looking into a different religion you can find the god or goddess for that specific religion in the articles section of SoM, if not then try looking on religious sites.

I'd say Apollo might fit a brooding personality, as he is the god of the moon, and the moon can be considered a 'darker' thing.

Ah. I think you got a bit confused. Apollo is god of the sun. It would make sense for him to be brooding if he was of the moon though.

Hathor Or Isis might be two goddesses you might want to look into. They are two of the ones I worship alot.

Any particular diety with respect to Voodoou?

I think it depends on what type of voudoo. Louisana or haitian. There is erzulie freda and mami wata. You should look it up.

Well, you should probably do research on different deities and try working with the ones that draw your attention, then work more often with the ones that seem to suit you the best.
Over time, Deities will kind of choose you and sometimes even appear to you. I remember the first time I saw the Crone Cerridwen and I knew that she was the one for me.
