the best and most power wands and staffs are those made by your hand. that way its you eneergies into it not someone elses whose eneries ma contradict your and make your spels backfire
Yea, Manderson, a wand doesn't have to look fancy to make a difference to your work.
As a Shaman, I usually aim to make anything I need myself anyway, and I get the raw materials from nature!
Go out to the park, and find a stick that feels 'right' or special to you. (By this I mean a dead branch thats already on the ground. Be sensible about what you take from nature.) You might want to take it home, strip the bark off, (or not, but it'll eventually come off with use) and decorate it with symbols etc that mean something to you. Sure, you may have to go to the shops if you want a big shiny quartz crystal bound to the top of it, but the object of making your own spiritual/magickal equipment is that you put the time and thought in to it....
And don't forget to thank Mother Nature/Great Spirit for anything you have taken from the earth. If you feel like making an offering to Spirit, I would suggest putting out some grain for the birds, or something along those lines, but a simple thank you is also fine.
To me personaly I would much rather use a wand but dont have any. Instead I use a mix it is kind of like a wand but longer and Not quite as a staff because it is much shorter.
I really dont care but everyone has there opinions so they are all different. Magick is magick you dont have to have a wand or staff but Some people feel as if it helps them or gives them more energy.
i perfer a staff i made (well put the carvings on it not done with that yet the tree outside my window gave it too me when i asked if it would thanked it and i help the tree out when it needs it like takeing the broken off limbs from its branches to clear it out so the birds can bild the nests again) one myself but i barely use it i keep it up most of the time don't want to freak out my parents yet anyways
I have a couple of wands they do different things though. Currently in the process of making a staff! Have got the cystal for it now just to find the right tree.....
i have often thought about making my own wand or stave but for me using my hands feels like more power coming from me and not having to go through my body then through a wand or stave but again this is my opinion. im sure when i get older i will probally get a wand and charge a few crystals s a reserve of magick but thats when im older and more experienced
