It would be completely illogical to destroy the moon, the scientists know that. Read some articles over it and study yourself. It's not going to do much. I don't exactly agree with it either, but it's not going to do enough damage to really worry about.
Human expansion or curiosity cannot be stopped. No matter how hard we try, nothing will stop one of the largest scientific communities in existance for spending millions to achieve their goals. And in all honesty, let them. The farther they go, the sooner they realize that magic and gods exist scientifically, and the quicker we "lunatics/heretics" become visionaries.
Actually, it's mostly Christians that think we are lunatics and heretics. Scientists are not opposed to religion. Around 90% of American scientists are religious.

It is very good that intelligence is measured nowadays in 8 separate intelligence categories , it has shown that 73.20 % of humans are severely emotionally and spiritually retarded ( impaired even ) , and If You take in consideration the fact that knowledge expands thanks to our emotions ( basic cognitive psychology ) it leaves us to fear are majority of scientist actually persons with limited and narrow knowledge obtained in simple habituation and modeling processes and incapable of rational thinking . They already bombed it. I watched it live on the interet this morning. I saw it getting closer and closer, switched to thermal view, then it blacked out. Some websites are saying there's an alien moonbase on the dark side of the moon as confessed by astronauts who went there, and that this was a planned attack. Look it up. Somehow seems more likely than they're looking for water. That was a bad excuse. And seeing how corrupt and the amount of conspiracies related to the American government, I'm fairly sure something's going on there.
What they don't understand is that they could blow up the moon. It's liable to suck earth right into the the whole implosion. stupid retards. Why do we need a base on the moon anyways???
