I know you don't actually drink the coffee grounds but just in case anyone gets any ideas to do so, I know it is popular to chew grounds or eat the beans instead.
Many coffee ground brands are not cleaned properly for consumption, they are meant to be drowned in hot water and filtered, so any possible insects or dirt don't get into your cup. So becareful that you have a good quality coffee and strain it with cheesecloth or a coffee filter, not a mesh strainer.
Coffee beans consumed are not healthy for us on a normal basis. A "treat" once in a while is safe. So people need to be sure that its "strained" completely.
From www.examiner.com
"Contary to the data that coffee may be beneficial, there is one glaring problem with eating coffee beans on a regular basis: These delicious delights raise both total and low-density (LDL) cholesterol. Coffee beans (and chocolate covered coffee beans) contain cafestol and kahweol, fat-soluble compounds that have been found to raise cholesterol in humans. Elevated levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol are a major factor in heart disease. Filtering coffee for drinking removes most of these cholesterol-raising compounds and makes coffee beverages less of a concern."
Not only that but coffee grounds themselves will have a stronger burst of caffeine, even more so than an expresso, which means it could put stress on your heart and body. It only takes 6 beans consumed equals the caffeine in one cup of perculated coffee.
I would suggest adding your ingredients to perculated coffee or one expresso for a safer pick me up. Even boiled can raise blood pressure although it tastes great with an egg boiled with it!
Adding raw honey to your coffee is great for you (the benefits are innumerable) as well as blackstrap molasses which is a great source of iron (that most of us don't get enough of).
I can understand paprika's pick me up abilities. It is apart of the cayene family but with no heat, so it shares many of the hot pepper's benefits. Its rich in vitamin C and vitamin C is known to be an energizer.
Sugar is never very healthy for you. It feeds the natural yeast in our bodies and cause many various and common health problems. We need sugar, but not as excessively as most people intake. So I would suggest replacing the sugar with more honey or blackstrap molasses or at the very least, use cane sugar and not refined.
I think your drink is a great concoction! I just added this for others who may attempt to recreate it with their own twists. It has the potential to be a nice alternative to an "energy drinks".
Coffee is mentally stimulating, is full of antioxidants, and is even linked to a reduction in cases of alzheimers and increased memory. The preparation just needs a tweak so it doesn't hurt your health with all that sugar! I actually hoped to give you a little insight. Who knows! If you can get it to taste good enough, you can start your own business! I can see it now..."Natural potions for your health!"
