Although there are a few techniques unique to chaos magic (such as some forms of sigil magic), *chaos magic is often highly individualistic and borrows liberally from other belief systems, due to chaos magic having a central belief that belief is a tool*.

Faith has nothing to do with your style of practice. I believe that most of the gods and goddesses I use are merely archetypes. My full set of beliefs are 100% off of what I have personally experienced and what makes sense to me through innumerable conversations, debates, and musings. It isn't true to me unless I come upon something I can't dispute. My beliefs are not "set" because I don't ever assume I'm right and constantly look for something to prove me wrong. Not finding that proof gives me more confidance in what I've already reasoned.

I try to avoid wikipedia. The only good thing about wikipedia is it can sometimes give you leads to good sources and key words to investigate the subject deeper.

Wikipedia isn't the only source that states that. As far as I'm concerned I'm a chaos magician. I believe that an eclectic witch takes a certain number of beliefs to create their own path.

There are many types of names designed for witches. Such as sorcerers, witches, warlocks, magicians, and the list goes on. Different people depending on their view name themselves how they wish.

Then what is your gnosis?

Although it is true that chaotes borrow from a variety of beliefs, they don't keep them. They're the actors and actresses of magick, dunning a mask, convincing themselves to believe an idea/faith in order to do a ritual, then casting it aside for another. Some will even make up their own beliefs and gods, use them, then discard them. Yes, they see belief as a tool, a tool they switch around at will. A true chaote is a true master of his own mind and emotions.

The difference between a chaote and an ecclectic, is ecclectics build their belief from many cultures/paths while chaotes will take from any culture or path they want that suits their needs, believe it is real for that moment in time, and then move onto a new one (truly believing none and all simultaneously). Chaotes are...well chaotic! Lol

Which is exactly what makes me a chaos magician instead of an eclectic witch. The only thing that I truly believe in and keep is the belief of Tao. Darkness and light.

Then what is a mage and wizard? I have an idea, but I want to see what you guys say.
