Touche, I enjoy the explanation but I think that we both are set in our beliefs. I will continue to come up with counter argument after counter argument for why I see it this way and not yours and vice versa. The beauty of this craft is that it allows for that. So let us agree to disagree or we will be going in circles soon
A rather informative post, thank you. A good deal of people, after hearing the slightest information about elements, they ask, "How do I control elements?. Most misunderstand the influence of elements in magic, using a preconceived, incorrect, and sadly popular view of ' Use magic to cause physical changes to an element.' It is actually the opposite, 'Use the physical properties of the elements to influence the workings of magic'. This is much akin to the grounding/centering technique, which uses the solid properties of earth to establish a stable connection with oneself and with their energy.
Often enough physical properties we find around us are incorporated and used in magic.
Hey guys! I am new to this, and I have read through a bit of the instructions and basics of the page, and I came to understand that elemental magic isn't something that works. I briefed through the spellbook and saw a "Pyrokinesis" spell, where they said you should practice with lighting a candle and trying to focus energy into it to shrink/grow the flame, and tip it in directions and even lit/put it out etc. Is this not at all possible? Or are small things like these possible even though you are talking about the elements?
On another note, how can I know what spells are actually spells that often works, and how do I know when spells are just some chum of words that doesn't mean anything?
And last, as said I am new to this, so I am wondering if there are any good spells that I can try that has some minor effects that just gets me going? Like, I can meditate and get into a state of mindfulness, and then just practice a few simple spells to try get my magic and energy going. If you have any tips please tell me! :)
to Daevil:
magick is not something that is learned overnight. I've been at this for two years and I'm still a newbie. The best way to know what works and what doesn't is trial and error. Also, hands down, the spells you write yourself will work better for you than the ones written by other mages. The spells that would work best for me would not necessarily work well for others. This is because each of us have different focuses, different skill levels and different energies. So keep working, keep practicing and remember the spells you write yourself will always work better for you.
Most informative article I've found on the subject of Elements. Gave me the understanding I've been looking for of the Elements and their influences not to mention understanding of which element/elements to use for each purpose. I especially like the healing potential they each posess.
