Well, I basically agree with everyone else. Mind you, that a glamour spell or two may be in order, also try a spell to make your self more attractive--I do not mean sexually appealing to the eye either; I mean appealing to the eye just as a "beautiful person" is.
Allow me to explain these to you, and any other beginners:a glamor/glamour spell is a spell that changes your physical appearance, this could be useful by making yourself look different than the person that the shooter is trying to kill; nothing too advanced either: maybe a hair color change, and eye color change as well as a few face modifications. Now, mind you that these do wear off.
A beauty spell would be useful because it can be even scientifically proven that it is harder to kill, maim, or otherwise inflict damage upon something that is pleasing to your eye to look at. Now, mind you that this might not always work, as some peoplecan bejust plaincold-blooded killers.
Best combination I can think of would be invisibility spell, glamour spell for hair color and one for eye color, beauty spell, hair cut/extension, and avoidance of trouble and mischievious doings. :)
A glamour spell doesn't change your physical appearance but simply how people percieve you, an invisibility spell of this type is sometimes called a blur spell as it simply helps people not notice you (although these are passive and if someone is actively looking for you they won't help much).
Anyway often they rely on the other person's willingness to believe in the glamour which is why they are mostly used for beauty because everyone wants to believe in that. But unless you're packing some serious power just dying your hair is easier.

It's worth noting that in many cases the more crude names for these sort of things are more metaphorical than literal. A "blur" spell doesn't necessarily make you visibly blurred within the light spectrum (how you see), but instead simply makes you more easily disregarded and unnoticed, as was suggested elsewhere.
Frequently this is a matter of projecting attitude. Those who seek to avoid or attract these situations often practice such mental efforts without realizing it.
The closest thing to "attack magick" is offensive energy manipulation. This take MUCH practice, and is thoroughly difficult. I've been working on an attack that has gone from feeling like a poke, to making the person vomit. This has taken several months, and thats one attack. The ability is not perfected yet, and i believe it will take years to get to the point I wish it to.
Another option is "cursed" weapons. Basically, you take a blade and enchant it. Again, it takes much work and time. I was lucky with my last blade... I forged it in a desperate state of emotions and it boosted my energy. In randomly playing with the blade, my ex had called me complaining of random cuts. This blade is evil. I have taken it and destroyed it.
Offensive magick is hard and I do NOT suggest it. As for defensive magick that is not my area =)
Maybe you should focus your energies on making the person miss? idk, that would be an easier and more logical way to perform instant magic that you imply. just saying.
Magick is not immediate, if it was, wouldn't you see lots more people getting into magick because the result are immediate? So being prepared is the key here.
The only defence spell I know is the rainbow stones protection spell. Find 7 stones with the rainbow colors and put them on your window or behind a door.
I would like to point out that Yes! A riot shield would protect you from a bullet. lol it's made out of fiberglass which is made to block bullets from penetrating.
