I will have to agree with the idea of not being a bit biased about the thought of substituting Marijuana for some practices as it does what some people have stated here like relieving pain, vomiting, and it also helps to stimulate the appetite of an individual as the basics. While it may help with the practices of some (it being beneficial), there are cases still that exist where it will be the opposite to other people. Also on the idea of "Smoking Marijuana" That is why I would recommend precautions when dealing with it since it may affect other people around you.
It being recommended as a means to make learning faster is an understatement. It is still best to use what is known that works even at the cost of time. If you do attempt to deal with it, it is by your own will. But make sure that you can get help immediately during the early signs where something wrong is about to happen.
If you are high, that will be a problem, still do try to take necessary precaution, especially those with conditions.

Meditation
Once widely used in magic.
Laws were passed in the 1930's
restricting it's use,
sale and cultivation and today it is
commonly substituted
in spells and workings with nutmeg,
damiana, star anise, and bay.
MAGICAL USES
Long used in love spells and divinations,
such as the following infamous
"Hempseed Spell"
Hemp was a part of many scrying and vision
incenses, the smoke of which opened
the psychic senses.
Mugwort and hemp were prescribed
to be burned before a magic mirror to gain visions.
It was added to meditation incenses.
Sourages made of hemp were used
in China as imatation snakes,
which were beaten against beds of the sick
to drive out malicious, ill causing demons.
Marijuana, which was not made
an illegal drug until the 1930s,
was at one time considered by Witches
to be a potent herb of love magick
(this may be one reason to explain
why 'love-ins' were such a popular pastime
among marijuana smoking hippies in the 1960s!)
On Midsummer
- a very magickal time of the year
for all herbs
- the seeds and leaves of the marijuana would
be brewed into a magickal tea potion and drunk,
not only to inspire feelings of love,
but to induce divinatory visions and dreams
regarding one's future mate.
"All we see and all we seem,
Is but a dream within a dream."
- Edgar Allan Poe
Also two good reads on weed and magic/spirituality are here;
I suggest if you choose to work it into your rituals do so. I do not, I keep my smokage and magic separate. But that's me. These are the facts I believe; It's much safer than alcohol. has been used spiritually for thousands of years. Science has proven we all have an endocabaniod system in our bodies. It's being starved, due to lies and falsehoods and to make a buck. while they give us pills that do much more harm.My two cents. ;)
I don't smoke really often but when I do, I find that it really helps me relax and enter a trance state more easily... I guess I could enter astral or something of the sort with much more ease, maybe try some sort of divination like scying would work too (though I haven't tried that).
I'm not sure what you people know bit I've seen it stop a small child's horribly violent seizures and it helps with depression and my crippling anxiety.
If it is for Seizure and your case, one of the said components that Marijuana (a.k.a. Cannabis) has is the Cannabidiol (CBD) which is a lower version of what the Cannabis has that makes people high when they take it the regular way. The CBD's effects are lower, which means you won't go high when you take it and what is good about it is it somehow helps in the process of lowering the seizure people have per day and what sickness some people have that doctors can't find or trace but there are evidences showing on their patients. Since it has good effects, they made the "Epidiolex" which is the oil-based extract of CBD from Marijuana which epilepsy people are using and such people experiencing unknown health problems. This is for medical use and is different for the standard use of Marijuana (e.g. Smoking, etc.) It may be good to use for your practices though it isn't something that is recommended as an alternative. If anyone wishes to try it, be sure that help is nearby if you start feeling odd, if you are able to tell. (If you are not that high!)
Marijuana helps a lot with visualization, calming down, relaxing, it can also replace most incense', helps going into a trance, has a lot of positive energy, great for healing magic and so forth. It's not illegal everywhere and there is recorded use of "kaneh bossem"(marijuana) by witches and even Christians in the distant past for healing and such. It'sillegal in my state but if I do it in my own home for religious purposes (as I am canthiest) then all they can do is smile at me. Religious rights
