The forums are tools you use to share information, and enrich yourself with the feedback and responses. The comments I have read point torwards a blame to the 'beginning' groups. But if you do want proactive comments, it starts with yourself as you give meaningful knowledge to everyone.
SoM is in a lull that all communities suffer from at this time of year...the winter holiday season. It should pick up again after New Years. Students and teachers are getting ready for their finals. The medical field is extra busy because illness and accidents are increased during cold weather and holidays. Businesses are super busy due to the increase in advertisements and shopping for the most festive and commercial holiday of the year, Christmas. Even restaurants get hit harder by hungry shoppers. Every culture, every religion, has a major holiday of gift giving, family, friends, and feasts around this time and everyone is effected whether they like it or not.
Im a beginner and my name is everywhere(mostly because i love my opinion and i like conversations) I start a conversation. But what you are saying is enough! you are all hypocrits. I dont see any one of you being excited or showing enthusiasm! yet you blame the fluffies! To get is to give. If you want help respond to one of my many comments!
I think many have give up on the forums due to the fluff polluting them, as well as the lack of intelligence. Though yes, we can change that by posting more intellectual things. There doesn't seem to be as much of a 'spark' here any more.
To turn around the state of the forums, we must take it upon ourselves to share knowledge and answer good questions, instead of complaining about it.
I also agree with WhiteRav3n in that Winter is a busy time for most and they are unable to find the time to post information.
It would help if more actually read the decent posts and responded to them, instead of just responding to the many idiocy filled posts. Some give up when it seems that no one is bothering with discussing topics. There are a few out there that still post often. I know because I check the forums daily for new work. Stop complaining about it and do something to better them.
The "fluffs" are caused by us the members. When we refuse to help and just insult them they just get angry and breds more fluffs. Enough with the bulling and insulting other views it does nothing only worsen the situation. By keeping those "fluff" spells in it is only a flame to a moth. If you look at what the guests are looking at most of it are fluff topics and such. If you want to stop the fluffs fix the issue with the site and the bullies stop blaming the fluffs and do something to prevent it by presenting knowledge in a positive way instead of a negative one.
I think 90% of the problem has nothing to do with fluffies, "bullying" or even criticism for that matter. You will that the majority of the "experienced" practitioners have been here for quite awhile, and actually get tired of answering the same exact questions on a regular basis. Any thing that becomes routine in that soon begins to feel tedious and redundant. A good majority of your newer members and even a large handful of your older members don't seem to be too keen on digging through what is already in the forums. Often enough if you go through the first five or so pages of any forum you will find your question already answered.
Given today's advances in technology you find all of us have gotten lazy, no one wants to read or dig for the answer anymore. So they make a new post and wait for someone to feed them the same answer posted a week ago. I used to be highly active in the forums, but will admit that due to the same question asked a week later (like the one that started this thread), I haven't given them much thought in almost a year.
I'd rather see someone post, "Hey this was my question, and I saw this thread but I still don't understand the answer; could someone explain it to me in a different way?". That at least tells the rest of us you actually tried and are sincerely interested in learning the answer. Not just a bunch of us replying to something that you will likely post, and a week later forget you posted it.
Yes you will get those types who are lazy to get the information. However that doesn't mean you have to leave the forum just ignore the question and be about your day. Why not some of the experienced members instead of just asking on forum post information on the forum. The forum isn't just about questions.
