If you wish to demonstrate the error of such an age limit, demonstrate your maturity by not allowing your youthful outrage to get in the way of your understanding.
Discussing topics such as sex magic, blood magic, etc. is simply not something you do with children. Nevermind the simple fact that most children (and yes, if you are 14 you are still a child) make attempting mature conversation and intellectual debate quite difficult.
"When I was a boy I knew that my father was a complete idiot. But a strange thing happened, the older I got, the wiser he got!"
Mark Twain
I am the same! At 14 I knew everything. Now, at 81, I know very little!
Some covens prefer older members due to maturity. For example, an immature member might pitch a bit of a hissy fit in the forums because they were not accepted into the coven they would like. The solution is simple, find another coven that is geared more to younger members and do your study and gather your knowledge until you are old enough to meet the requirements of your preferred coven.
Look I'm not trying to sound hash, but stop complaining. I read all these posts, and your post's and the others make good points.
Honestly, did you ever think why there is an age limit? Did you ever wonder why your getting declined? Coven's are allowed to have an age limit, and if you can't join it until your say ''16" then don't whine about it.
Covens are legal, and allowed to have limits. Covens talk about things, that are not good for teenagers, or if they allow you..there allowing others. Why accept one person underage? It's a coven, you don't have right to be into, just because your over ahw, or under. You have a right, yes. But anything involved with the craft, people must wait to be accepted or learn until a appropriate age.
Covens discuss things that include various topics. There not being rude, and taking away knowledge. If anything there helping.
I realize you may be mad, but things will happen the way the do. Sorry, but it,s true. Good luck, but it's not doubting or taking knowledge away. It's legal, to do this.
Oh yeah coven that teach advanced part of magick are not for us teens. Only for advanced people of high experience. Or dangerous magick like blood magick demon summoning etc. this is why the coven is for 16 above. It's for reasons like this. As I said respect the age limit.
Dragon, some covens have age restrictions, some merely require that you be able to act in a mature manner. And right now you are sounding more like a three year old having a temper tantrum.
Coven leaders are perfectly within their rights to ask that members be of a certain age to participate. But there are plenty of other covens on here that do not have any age requirements. If you can't get into one coven then try one of the other ones that has no such restrictions. It's as simple as that. Accepting or rejecting a member for coven membership is no different than deciding who you will allow into your home. Being a coven member is a privilege, not a right.
I will also note that your comments in this thread are not likely to make any coven look at you favorably for membership. Instead of complaining why don't you try through your participation in the Forums to show that you are mature and knowledgeable. That will go much further in gaining entry into one of the Covens here.
Well the point has been said many times so I'm just repeating others but here I go.
This site has a restriction of 13 for legality and maturity. Some children are more mature than teens, it's just a generization. Like a 'pg13' rating, the majority of 13 year olds can handle the movies content, some might be able to at 10, others at 15, it's a generization.
Covens make information private for a bunch of reasons, same with age limitations. The topics or spells are advanced, to be safe, they do their best [and this is online where we can all lie] to keep the inexperienced away so they don't get hurt. Offline, few covens let information outside the coven for a number of reasons, and many also insist on a minimum age of 18.
I've met 10 year olds on this site, all but one knew nothing beyond what's in a Disney film. The only exception was a girl who claimed her parents were witches, and she seems very mature and knowledgeable. So I know first hand the age isn't an exact science, but it's the rule because of the majority.
Just study and grow. I've been rejected by covens in the past, I studied and came back. Be happy you're even on the site and can learn, every member under 13 [including the 10 year old I mentioned] has been reported and gagged for breaking the rule.
Lark and nekoshema said it very well.
Personally, I don't even like to associate with many pepe under 18 in real life for the same reasons. There's just way too much you could be accused of and with the way the US views adult interaction with minors, its just a lot of liability.
But my question to you, Dragon, is this:
If a coven doesn't want you, why would you still want to join them?
