well, sorry, being a jerk isnt very intelegent either. if u dont like what i say, then dont listen to it. u r only proveing urslef to be rude. and yes, many musicians and artists in history were drunk. it was either motzart (yes, spelled wrong), or baytoven, died by passing out in a puddle, drunk
What is not correct in this statement ?
So far you have said nothing ,instead you have typed it ,therefore even if i would like to listen i can not .
The only person here who lacks manners is you .Since we do not take all this personal we have no reason to be rude ,my only concern is about kids following your potentially dangerous climes .Your own intelligence is not my concern ,neither my problem .
"The official record has it as "hitziges Frieselfieber" ("severe miliary fever",)Mozart became bedridden, suffering from swelling, pain, and vomiting".The cause of Mozarts death according official records and act of death .

Bethoven
The last day
News also arrived from the shores of the Rhine: editor Schott sent him from Manz a case of wine. But, Beethovens condition was so bad at this point that he barely took a sip of that wine.
On March 24th Beethoven signed his last will and testament , leaving everything he had to his nephew Karl. On the 26th, Breuning and Schindler went to see about a burial place at the cemetery, leaving Hutenbrenner alone with the now dying Beethoven.
Here is how Romain Rolland describes Beethovens final day: "That day was tragic. There were heavy clouds in the sky around 4 or 5 in the afternoon the murky clouds cast darkness in the entire room. Suddenly a terrible storm started, with blizzard and snow thunder made the room shudder, illuminating it with the cursed reflection of lightning on snow. Beethoven opened his eyes and with a threatening gesture raised his right arm towards the sky with his fist clenched. The expression of his face was horrifying. His hand fell to the ground. His eyes closed. Beethoven was no more." Source : http://www.all-about-beethoven.com/beethovenlastyears1.html
An autopsy was performed on 27 March by Dr. Johann Wagner. While it is unclear who ordered the autopsy, a specific request by Beethoven in his Heiligenstadt Testament may have played a role in the decision. [4] The autopsy revealed a severely cirrhotic and shrunken liver, of which ascites is a common consequence. Scholars disagree over whether Beethoven's liver damage was the result of heavy alcohol consumption, hepatic infection, or both. Hepatitis B and C are causes of cirrhosis, but they spread from contact with contaminated body fluids and were almost unknown in Beethoven's day. Hepatitis A on the other hand can be contracted from food and water that were not handled properly and was very common in the 19th century, although it does not cause liver cirrhosis or permanent organ damage.
Heavy metal contamination is thought to be a contributing factor in Beethoven's death as these were commonly used in the medicine of the time. It has also been theorized that he consumed large amounts of lead from illegally-fortified wine. This was a very common practice to sweeten cheap wines, and despite being outlawed in most European countries during the 18th century, the prohibition was difficult to enforce and production of lead-fortified wine (which originated in Roman times) continued unabated. There is no indication the composer had syphilis beyond a mercury treatment prescribed to him around 1815, but these were used for various other ailments as well.

So in last one case there are arguments what exactly damaged the liver either it is the wine ,the lead in the wine which is toxic or Hepatit B or C.So all of these factors back in epoca could have caused the reason for the death .Also he berelly sipped from this wine to die in puddle .And yes the case does proove partially that alchohol damage the liver over time (despite that may not be all the factors caused the death ).Lets not forget that medicine back then was not in same level neither the hygien and knowledge of heavy metals .You do not need to drink to can have certain types of Hepatite .And you do not need to drink to get lead posioning .
Well, you've got to remember, in the past, the definition of wine, like Artemisia said, may have been different and enhanced with other things.
Also I'm a student artist I guess you could say and I can whole-heartedly say that a lot of good artists I've seen just start drawing and get their inspiration from their ideas. I think 1 out of every 5 pieces I do actually has an intended symbolic meaning before I do it. Other times the idea just pops in my head or I go "Hey I want to paint a fish. Oh what about oil pastel on a black board...in orange! For...uh...wealth!"
So I'd say that was a very brash, assuming statement that "many artists" have to use wine to get their ideas.
i never said haveto, i said many do, stop puting words in my thread. and how wuld u know those seemingly random insparations didnt originate in a dream? u never know, so let it go.
I did write 'many artists' word for word...and I know because I can clearly remember the exact moment I imagined two of my pieces and it was clearly during the day. I'm not saying it might not be true, then or now, but the wording makes it seem like an assuming statement
ya and u dont know didly from squat. or how to read. did u even read wat i wrote? i made a coment on how i never ever said "haveto". that was U, who brought that word into this thread. read before u reply plz.
Look, I'm not saying the statement's wrong. I'm saying the way you worded it is the reason people are uneasy with the statement. I understand you didn't mean all artists and you meant no harm with the statement, it's not that. I'm just going to drop it now
But it's a really interesting fact, I can't deny that :)
Even if he did drink in his life, enough to cause liver damage, who said he did so while he was doing his work. I believe he drank when he wasn't working. But I was not alive at that time, and therefor can not say that is a fact. I only know, from my life experience, that me and my artsy friends never drank or smoked or did any mood altering substances while we did the majority of our work, either in class or out. My best friend and I spent an entire year painting murals in my first apartment. Yes, on a occasionally we did drink and partake of some herbal substance, but we were not painting at the time. [By the way, that apartment was the funnest and most inviting home I've ever had the pleasure of residing in. It's a shame to think they painted over our beautiful works after I moved out. I was 18 at that time, and feels like it was another lifetime.]
