Have a "quote" or "reply" buttons that you click on to quite and reply directly to a quote in a thread. GaiaOnline makes good use of a button like this, as an example. Also, maybe an option where we can see what we are rated as? Like our "member" "newbie" thing. And maybe an app for smart phones since a lot of people use their phones and the mobile site kind of sucks (sorry) so some resort to desktop mode on their phone. The app could be like an improved version of the mobile site or something.
I would like to see the chat have people called drivers.
Drivers have the ability to gag and mute people but do not carry the full power and responsibility as a moderator does. What muting someone does is a member gets muted for a certain time limit and not receive a full on gag. For example... If there is a discussion going on in the chat and someone is disrupting it then a driver can mute them for like five minutes.
A mailing lists will help also allow leaders of a coven to send mass emails to their members without just going to each profile constantly. You can also have coven drivers that allows the coven leaders to have a bit more control over the coven chat in their coven. They can even choose who they give a driver position too in the coven. Even allowing us to have group chats with the messaging system or even side chats with multiple members would be nice to see.
There should be a way to tell when you have been on the site for three months. Just a suggestion. I know I'll be on the site for three months in January 2015. This is what I am suggesting. Also it's in the full site.
There needs to be some programming done to ensure strict security measures against potential abusive members, meta-tagging of abusive profile names/words used to create profiles so accounts cant be created.
I agree with another member about the drivers, or at least there needs to be a moderator on this site all the time to moderate the chat, this site needs a lot of work doing to ensure the safety of adolescent's and young adults and there needs to be programming to safeguard them.
I have been on line several times when people have come on just to abuse and troll the public chat and there have been no moderators to witness it, all people can do is report the members in question. And seeing as I am the one making these suggestions, it would be rude of me to make them without having these skills first, and I am more than willing to dedicate some time to ensure the safety of other members on this site.
I also agree with another members comment regarding reputation bar's, there should be a test in place to determine the knowledge base/level of a person, however this test should only be available to members of this site who have been here for a year or longer, furthermore the test itself should be created by only the moderators who posses a knowledgeable/adept level.
Some people come on this site and have already been practising for many years, and yet spend most of their time trying to work their way up the ranks, and I think that is the problem of this site, the reputation system itself makes people want to have the highest level as quickly as possible, and everyone wants a piece of this, but that takes the point out of what this site stands for, this is a site about magic right? So make it about that, make the system that website runs in a fairer place and I guarantee people will be happier.
Another thing which I find absolutely insulting to myself and other members is the fact that people upload spells that are completely faked and made up, this is outrageous and should not be allowed, but my complaint aside there again should be checks on when a person wishes to post/upload an article/spell, it should be checked and verified be a moderator to ensure it hasn't been plagiarised or made up, this will ensure the authenticity of the site and members will start taking their practise more seriously.
Now I am new to the craft, I sincerely apologize if I speak like I have a lot of experience in magik and witchcraft, truth is I do not, just look at my rep bar to see for yourself, but this comes through talking to other members and hearing their views about this site, and after careful consideration combing through this post, I thought it is time to ask Petrarca do take these suggestions into consideration.
