True, those are all horrible things. But do you really think those people did them in 'glory of God'?
Because they didn't.
People who did this were not true Christians. Because they were not Christ like.
There will always be war for many 'causes' - for love, for God, for flying spaghetti monster or invisible pink unicorn - but they are not the actual cause of war. They are exscuses. Causes of war- real causes- are greed and 'need' for more territory and resources. If those people didn't have a god to fight for, they would invent something else. You also need to see that the Christianity is the religion of emperors and kings - it became the system of control because kings needed their crowd obedient.It wasn't meant to be a conquering machine when it was born.

Do I think it is horrible? Yes.
But chances are that your average Christian you meet in streets is very ashamed of this, and that he himself has never stoned, judged anyone, burned people or books, therefore he doesn't deserve this smeared over his face.

This is why I really don't like the title of the thread. Why not name it 'persecution against the hellenes' and turn it from thread with animosity to christians to thread with information?

Agreeing with Shadow a few pages back but with a few of my peronsal alterations. There are Christians-true righteouss Christians who actually THINK) there are 'Christians'-Christians who believe that spreading Christianity even by means of blood and massacre is good for mankind (and those are the ones who do NOT think)and then there are "Christians"-ones who use their religion as an excuse for doing bad things such as Religious Empires ruled by people who want power but say that God sent them (but they are just lying) or people who do bad things and then attend church and expect God to forgive them every time.
And another thing, the Romans I think were 'Christians' because they did think that what they did was for the good of the world, but in a blink of the eye they just said, "right then we're changing our Imperial religion to Christianity and any Pagans shall be killed." Without pausing to think whther Christianity was really superior to their original PAGAN religion.

Sometimes , I think I am asleep when I am awake had I known it was cause such an uproar I would have not even posted this darn thing .. please stop arguing ...
