Typically oil of clove is used to ease toothaches. Check your drugstore in the toothcare aisle for remedies to relieve tooth pain. Often you will find that the basic ingredient in these is oil of clove.
There are some other interesting suggestions for relieving tooth pain at http://voices.yahoo.com/natural-remedy-toothache-pain-6660742.html I've never tried any of them myself, so I can't speak for their efficacy.
*EDIT* peppermint seems to work the best, i don't have any clove oil, and the cloves i do have are dried so i'm not sure how well that would work. vanilla extract worked alright for about an hour [thinking it was a placebo]
I know your pain well! At 23 my one wisdom tooth came in and it took nearly 2 years to fully expose itself. It was hell! It felt like labor without the cute baby at the end to look forward to. =p
What worked wonders for me was a hot compress of peppermint on the outside of my jaw and a hot gargle of salt and garlic powder in green tea. Make sure to swish and gargle it for a good 2-5 min. I would make a big mug of it and keep taking swigs of it, swish it, gargle and spit.
Another option, wet a tea bag (black or green) and put it in your mouth over the tooth. Keep it there for 20-40min. It's a natural anti-inflammatory due to the tannins. The more expensive teas have stronger tea bags (or you can purchase them) so the tea bag doesn't rip and cause leaves to get in your mouth.
Another sure pain solution is chewing a slice of raw garlic over the tooth. It will burn like crazy, but then you will feel 80-100% pain relief for a while.
T_T way to scare my WhiteRav3n, i'm 23 and now i'm worried this will last 2 years. i hate the taste of peppermint, but it's been working wonders. i'll try the green tea, salt and garlic though.
i've got tons of cinnamon in my house, i'll try that too. [starting to feel like a guinea pig for pain relief. so long as it works i don't care]
2 cloves
4 peppermint leaves (preferable fresh ones)
1 teaspoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of quinoa seeds
1 teaspoon of sugar
Instructions:
Crash to a paste the cloves the peppermint leaves and the quinoa seeds. Then mix them with the olive oil. Place the mixture in a dry cold place overnight. Leave the sugar aside until you use the mixture.
How to use it:
Place some drops of the mixture in the painful area. You will soon see that the pain disappears gradually. If not, add some sugar to the mixture, mix well, and repeat the last step.
When my mother was living she often suffered with tooth ache and other tooth related problems . In the end she went to the dentist and they said it was her wisdom teeth coming through . I can always remember her breathe smelling of cloves and I mean it wasn't a faint smell but a strong over powering smell . I assume she used alot of clove oil.
She was always taking pain killers of all sorts from anadin to ibubefen to co-codamol.
I know white willow bark is the base if asprin , but you need to be careful when using it because it is a blood thinner and can counteract with other drugs and herbs.
Ginger is an anti-inflamatory so making ginger tea might help or having it in a lot of food might help .
The same goes for chillies , I have been known to use them for mucsel aches and pains.
I know lemons are Also an anti inflamatory as with honey it is a natural healer. Maybe make a gargle with it ?
I hope the pain eases quickly and swiftly
My blessings
