The spell is fake, knowing who made it.

The most probable answer is that the spell is fake!
Controlling elements is not possible! We humans are bound and limited to actions that can be performed! The thing sounds so unrealistic and absurd that it can be easily understood that the spell is fake with just a little bit of common sense and maturity! Such things are out of human possibility.
Magick does not help in such cases either! Magick is spiritual and it takes time to show result, so you cannot expect instant quick results from it. Also, magick abides by the laws of the universe and it has its limitations! Often movies potray such fluffy things for entertainment's sake and those aren't to be taken seriously! It's surprising how people expect so much from magick!

I think you can control fire using chi -I never tried it though-

The only way to control fire is in a fire-grate.Otherwise, nobody, repeat nobody, can control fire. If you could, then your local fire chief would be very interested to hear from you!

I think the reason that the flame moved side to side, is because the movement of your finger moved the flame. As if you would wave your hand over a fire and the flames would waft in another direction, or as if the wind would blow it. This is not Magick. As said before, Magick does not control the elements, we do not control the elements. We connect to the elements. We work "with" the elements, we do not work the elements to do our will.

The spell isn't genuine. Heck, it even calls upon the "Power of Three' which is straight out of the TV show "Charmed". Cupping your hands around the flame, moving your finger near the flame, and any other gestures near the flame will move it. But this is caused by natural occurences such as creating air movement. It has nothing to do with magic at all.

Sorry sweetheart, you just can't control the elements. We're not Aang or Zoey or anyone of the sorts. Like they've said, if you move your fingers through it or past it, the flame moves. Just like if the wind blows, etc. The spell is fake, and you really should use your common sense before jumping into something.
