Do you know how to control energy? [Charge, ground, shield, and make psi balls] of you're not proficient in "the basics" it could explain why your spells feel weak.
You might also consider cleansing yourself and your space to get the energy flowing as stagnant energy can effect our magick, as well as balance your chakras.
On a less energy based approach, how healthy are you? Do you exercise daily, drink plenty of water, eat healthy food, and meditate regularly? Your daily routine can also effect your craft.
If you're new I recommend not to cast spells, as you haven't learned the basics. As Neko stated, you need to be proficient in the basics before moving on to spells.

My mother was died over a period of three years. She had a 10% chance of coming out of open heart surgery and did. She had both legs amputated, she puked blood... cups full and was on perontineal (dont know if spelled right) dialysis but i saw miraculoys things around that woman like her being a miracle for that long and coming out of brain death to hear me tell her i loved her. Physical health has nothing to do with your spiritual power. She was the kind of woman that believed in herself that no one could convince her otherwise... its all within you and how you choose to think of yourself.
In all likelihood you weren't doing anything magical at all. If there were a change it was most apt to have been a coincidence.
If you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.
You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.
Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.
So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. "Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig
