That's not exactly deep as I would refer to as very clear thinking. We all come to notice or suspect such words in our minds but rarely pay attention. Kikuyo presented it and brought forthe old or maybe new thoughts that either all if not most of us have had and forgotten. Kudos for that Kikuyo, it brings back old memories of my days as a young ammateur prophet ;D.
Anyway, I strongly believe in reincarnation and that each time we come back it is to learn soemthing new and to ascend just a tad bit more. Never have I thought though, to combine the theories. I like that.
As for the multiple names for gods/deities in different religions and mythology the belief that they are merely the same with different names is in my opinion, greatly misplaced and mislead.
Most religions indeed have their similarities, but it is also true they have too many differences to only be what is suggested as the only difference being names.
If you lined up Christianity and say the Greek Gods in a pyramid as said; they will possibly have many similarities but the differences are so inate it is rediculous to assume them the same, different languages regarding. Each of the Greek gods have flaws, in christianity "God" and the angels are all perfect and those few angles who aren't are cast into hell. There is one supreme ruler in christianity and always has been, in Greek Mythology you have Zeus (who isn't a complete ruler and creater as "God" is suggested to be) his father Kronos and his father Uranus/Father Sky three different generations of gods ruled over the earth. There are plenty more reasons why those 2 comparisons are in fact much more different than similar but my point is ALL religions and mythological beliefs are way too different for them to be lined up on a pyramid and decided the same with only different names.
On the other hand of not writing so much, I think it could be true but I'd accept Kikuyo's or Kts's theory further than any others presented. I wouldn't say it could be to go straight into ''godhood''.
After all, if it were so easily possible, we'd all be commiting suicide in order to rule the world. muahaha! XD
responding to the original post i would imagine that you have to first define for yourself what a god is, its aspects, what would make one up etc. think of all the components of a god.
from there, think of all the ways that we can grow as mages (or whatever you call yourself in your particular practice) using this as a starting point and the components and aspects of a god as your base or outline. that outline will seperate your growth in stages from what is easiest for you to accomplish now, and things you wont be able to do till you have grown a bit as a "god"
after that, think of your personal strengths in magic, what spells are you good or bad at, is there a way you could play on your strengths to achieve specific goals toward your growth? be creative here as there are typically a connection from one spell to another, unintended or not that you may not have noticed if you hadn't thought about it before hand.
train yourself specifically to accomplish the first couple of goals in your outline and be sure to set things up that will make future tasks easier, it never pays to wait to the last moment to start something as that is always the time the ground falls from beneath you feat.
shift bit by bit, stage by stage till you accomplish "godhood"
at least that is how i would imagine it is done ;)
alot of people in history have been called direct decendants of gods and goddesses.
look at ceasar and cleopatra
people name themselves gods for politics, not for religious reasons.
i recommend anyone who is interested in this topic look into the qabbalah, this will help you understand the various emanations of existence, if one can grasp and understand how and why existence is and functions the way it does then you can start grasping how the soul works within it's own emanations, the soul in itself is just a lower emanation of the universe, thus how much one strives for and achieves depends all upon yourself, the qabbalah will also help you to grasp even in the slightest manner the nature of god, and in doing so possibly see a lower emanation of that divinity within yourself.
The tree of life is meant to serve as a guide for us to our souls, and eventually in ideal conditions to our higherselves, when this is achieved the process of awakening truly begins, but from this point it is not just an awakening of your human soul, but also an awakening on various levels of the higherself where you have a connection, once again what one does with this depends on you, also understand that awakening itself is a long process which is divided into many smaller subdivisions eg. mental awakening, conciousness awakening, energy awakening, if all these are achieved, understood and mastered then you are ready to grasp true universal divinity.
But this is all just part of a process which spans across many lives and the plot is often lost long before the endpoint is reached.
As to the original question, is it actually possible, i leave that for each to decide for themselves, but i do recommend you have a look into what i mentioned even if it is only for a better practical understanding of the human soul and it's purpose and journey through existence, my answer is simple, bring ether to kether and kether to ether and the circle is complete.
how does one define a god? is it a only a primal creational energy or not? cause if it is not purely a primal creational force then in theory the ascention from human to god is very possible, especially if one thinks about it in a logic manner.
humor me and think about it, the human soul has room for infinite growth, thus your soul and your energy can be grown indefinately, now this can occur in many lives or in a single life. understand as well that actual soul energy is something very different than what most use in their spells, that links more to potential of will channeled from the mind.
now, if one can grow indefinately, and one can open and master ALL of your energy pathways, chakras, meridians, kundalani etc. as well as mastering certain acts like pranayama which teaches us the use of true kether, what is to stop one from ascending to the state of a god, on not just a mental level, but also a energy and understanding level as well?
now, to complete the circle, one would need to understand as cheese mentioned emanations of existence, all the way from ether down to physical and then even lower down than that into circuits of human conciousness, but all this is doable, and even more than that it isnt as hard as one may think, but it all depends on how hard you work towards it, the dedication put in etc. i recommend people read up on ego death, because when one experiences the state of clear light mentioned in it one gains numerous universal based understandings about many things, the universe, life, the soul, existence as a whole, and each time you experience ego death to the full you will attain more and more of these understandings untill you are fully "enlightened".
biggest question one should ask yourself though is why the ascention from man to god, to what purpose, cause starting a mission without a endpoint in mind will ensure the path is lost shortly after starting. If you are doing it for power and influence then you are doing it for the wrong reason and thus the endpoint you reach will not be one of divinity, rather one of failure or insanity.
You can't become a god -.- We're already god, One is All, All is One. But not supernatural, thank something. Well, I'm Pantheist, I have different opinions.
thank you for your view points all especially cheese and hadit , I have been flirting with a scientific , and ratinal explanation for all things labeled supernatural cause I had gotten into this kinda stuff through quantum physics and understanding how these forces in universe effect or everyday lives and to me it seems that most religions in todays times have little to do with god or gods, cheese might agree with this point. Now its not the gods fault , as much is it is their worshipers, a believe a few bad apples ruined it for everyone , but i do believe gods are real of course i just think most are beings either from another plane of existence or from a different planet with far advanced technology , but i will say that i believe in an ultimate god that created everything and then if i be honest how that happened was through division hence emanations, i always looked at the birth of universe as the creation of the gods and then the gods went on to create everything else , is a working theory but you et my point.
Now i think the only reason a non physical being would choose to be physical would be to evolve into a greater being not for power but just for the sake of evolution is a natural thing , and in my beliefs this planet is the best place for that , because of the amount of experiences one is forced to deal with adapt/evolve and over come to be better than before, and i think becoming a god is just a form of evolution we shall all one day achieve we have just gotten lost or most of us, in the physical and lost that sense of wonder each of us had as a child. this wonder is a lot like imagination , its is that which lets us see spirit,. so for me it is really not whether one can become a god but rather is one ready to.
