Coding no matter what coding it is, he (pet) can still throw in another coding that stops ads from other sites. Not saying that he can do it and all but at least should try to keep out those worthless ads.
If you believe they are vampires and werewolves and so on, then that is what you believe in. No matter what you say you still can't make everyone believe it so. I do believe there are vampires, not the sickness because again that is a sickness, psi vampire is one of them. But to many people took that title and learned how to be one or semi one. So it isn't anything great or even to be proud of.
Werewolves, not really sure I believe in them. Other animals turning into other animals haven't been recorded or seen (as far as I heard) and the closest thing to a human is putting on a hid or costume. This is what I believe in and I take full responsibility for my believes.
Now for the real stuff, he is right about creating two different sites... It will confuse them and angry them. Pet already made the 2012 site http://itbegins2012.com/ and it isn't that big anymore. Why would you think he will waste more money to create another useless site if they're many many many other rpg sites.
If they really thought that we hated them because we didn't want them to join our "game" then they are not very smart...
When Pet made the 2012 site he made a rule "if you want a 2012 topic go to that site, who uses SoM for 2012 stuff will be gagged".
So why not make a committee that would investigate cases of roleplaying. It's not a big job.
They will be forced to move on the RPG site or to stop their rp here. It's quite simple. The iron hand ruling.
while yes the iron hand would work. however the "rp" would still come in here and do that. which is why i think when they first sign up there should be a letter saying something like. "welcome to som site thank you for signing up yada yada yada yada while you are her we would like to ask you to not to rp,if you do have question look around first odds are some post them first. if you are new check the general info for the basics. that should clear up alot of things. if that doesnt then feel free to post a question." anyway just my 2 cents.
Not to burst your bubble, but creating a site with it's own domain cost money on a monthly scale. Yes this might be a bigger problem then the 2012, don't know why pet made it when it really isn't being used a lot anymore or any was.
Besides, those are people. No matter what you do you can't stop them all. Pet can, but am sure he might get confused who is roleplaying and who isn't. And am sure he doesn't want to keep watch on who creates a account, right now he set it as auto-create. He does get emails about how many are created but I don't think he reads them and he just deletes them, who knows. Am just saying he doesn't want his job to be harder or anything.
Your just going to have to live with the rp and if you can not then just leave this site and go on a search on another site.
The best suggestion I think anyone can take is this:
JUST IGNORE THEM
Plain and simple. If you ignore them, and not add to their posts, not make post complaining about them, or anything else that progresses the spread of RPers, then guess what will happen.
The RPers will make their own threads, get comments from other RPers, and get ignored by the true members(i use true members only to make a distinction). And perhaps in time, they will disappear altogether for lack of interest.
It's actually quite simple, if you don't want to deal with RPers, don't post or even look at ones that appear to be RP like. Now yes there are posts that ask general questions like: what is a werewolf, or characterteristics of one(such as the lengthy thread that has been going on the past couple days). These may more may not be RP related, in which case if you want to give your advice then do so, if you feel its RP related then don't. Comments that just go on off topic or state that this person could be RPing, or that there is no such thing as werewolfs(or vamps, mermaids, etc) are NOT NEEDED. They only make the problem worse, not better.
Ok, done with rant :)
Glim
p.s. an other site would deff cost more and wouldn't be affective either, cause like everyones said, it would be too much work to maintain and control over the rpers
Most people can ignore them, Glimwick, but for those who really care about what the new people who know nothing of magick are being taught, the roleplayers who lie to and misguide them cannot be ignored. I once referred to the roleplayers on this site as being like a plague, I still see them in that way. They are a plague that can easily spread amongst the newer members who have yet to learn the truth. While those who are immune to such a plague can easily ignore it, those who want to end the plague cannot.
4321, plan A won't work. Let's skip to plan B, but don't be surprised if we quickly have to switch to plan C. I'm afraid the casualty risk of plan B may be to high. (yes, I am joking too)
Light and darkness form a balance, but knowledge in no way relies on liars. We do not require nor have any need for a plague. What we have a need for is members with a desire to learn. Can you teach a brick wall to act as something other then a brick wall? No, because the brick wall will stubbornly remain as much of a brick wall as it was before you chose to try teaching it. So it is with the majority, not all, but the majority of roleplayers.
Ohh, an excellent idea. We'll get shock collars, squirt bottles, a thing called "bitter yuk"(keeps dogs from chewing on things), and a few other canine training disciplinary tools to keep the roleplayers away.
Yes, most just need the door. I still think the best metaphoric comparison for the roleplayers is a plague and knowledge is the cure. Unfortunately, they have to be willing to take the cure before they will be cured. If they are not willing, that's when you have the brick wall, but that brick wall spreads a plague amongst other newbs which may eventually build(and indeed already has) more brick walls.
