i hear almost dayly people saying things are bad or evil, that people are bad/ evil. I believe that nothing is bad/evil. Even the devil (Luzifer) who is said to be the most evil being is not evil he did evil things but those actions do not make him evil. He used to be an angel for goodness sake. Sure he got his wings clipped or what have you but i mean really who descides if something is evil? Is it God? Is it man? A man gets locked up for the rest of his life because he did a sin, but we don't know his story. What brings a man to have the ability to kill another? is it insanity? is it life its self? Nothing is good or bad the only way we decipher the two is by what we believe is moral and what is unjust. But all minds work differently so is it wrong to think for yourself if this is the outcome you think up?
what do you think? a little food for thought.
I agree that "evil" is nothing more than one persons moral beliefs. "Bad" will differ depending on the person and society.
Those terms are used to guide us as individuals, protect society, and create fear in people to get them to follow certian rules be it government or religion.
The term is also used loosely. I use it frequently, but more out of habit than out of judgement.
That being said, there are some things I think that fall into those catagories ( based on mine and others moral compass ).
You bring up the man going to jail for his sins, but us not knowing his story. In some cases, I couldn't give a flip less what the person rotting in jail story is. Their act that got them there was wrong, evil, bad and every other cliche term you can think of.
As a society, we decide where the line is and how to punish it if crossed. If you cross it ( depending on the story behind it ), you are bad and in some cases evil because those are the terms we use to define what is wrong.
But in the end, it's nothing more than words used to understand the seriousness of someones position on a situation. Be it religion, crime, supernatural, ect.

hmm healer you seem to have given this a lot of thought....thanks.... i find that although one person may think someone is evil what would that person that did it think? i watched Grey's Anatomy last night and an inmate had gotten hurt in a brawl and was brought to the hospital. Some of the doctors debated on what should be done and one was even willing to let him die so that his organs could be used for a little boy who was about to die. The inmate ended up bashing his head because he wanted to die but they had to work on him anyways just so he could get exicuted 5 days later. Well this is sorta off the topic but what it all means is that although this guy slit the throats of 5 women and ended up in jail the surgions still had to help him they could not let him die because that would be felt as inmoral.
I saw that on Grey's Anatomy last night too.
It comes down to a persons opinions/morlas/values on what makes something "evil" or "good".
We're brought up by our parents teaching us what they think is wrong/right and we grow up beliving that, also teaching our children more or less the same thing.
People's opinions are formed by that of anothers, and their actions.
What could be seen as evil to the country that we live in, may not exactly be the same case in another country, and vice versa..
I've blabbed on a bit here, so sorry if this makes no sense. :)

thats true lucie.....but what happens when uve been brought up one way and turn out another....like if ur family is cristian or jewish or such but u prefer wiccan. what then then uve gone against the grain and in some places that could be considered unjust
Then that's up to the individual as to how they see things.
They can choose to listen to their family's beleifs, or make up their own mind on what they want to believe.
