I'd like to know what they can do and how they are to be enchanted?

What they can do: the basic idea is they do whatever you tell it to. Enchanted candles can release your intention as they burn down, an enchanted pendant can hold out protective energy for anyone who wears it, an enchanted sharpener can put a glamor on the pencil so you can concentrate on what you're writing... limits are only set by your imagination and skill.

As for how... if you want to be pedantic, enchanted items are items that have been made magical by the mage singing a command at it. (chant=old word for song.) That's why I think a lot of spells are in rhyme, maybe they used to be sung but now rely more on their rhythm to stick in your memory and involve more focus. The create a charm spell on this site is a good script for this (charm also used to mean song, but this spell doesn't involve wetting the object like the enchant object spell does.)

Hmm interesting. Thanks, would this be a good spell for a beginner?

Especially for a tactile beginner, yes I'd say so... it ought to be an easier basic than sigilwork too because it's literally something you can put your hands on. I take it for granted as something we do naturally anyway-- you know how psychics can hold an item and tell something about the person who used it most? Our essence rubs off on things and I think enchanting an object does the same, but deliberately and with more focus.
