I am not here to start a massive argument. I am here to discuss the following opinions and statements. Some covens were deleted, and yet they were clearly interesting places to learn magicks. The two covens that should be returned to this site are Black Dragon Empire and Hellfire of Hope. They have alot to teach to their members and alot to contribute to this site if one would only let them have the chance. I will now allow the coven leaders of those two sites to explain on this thread why their covens should be a part of this site.
On a separate note, instead of banning the creation of new covens entirely, there should be a means to create a new coven. My theory would be to have the would-be new-priest of a coven message the site creator and see if he would allow a coven of that particular topic to exist on this site.
I'll leave the two covens you mentioned for everyone else to explain.
As for your idea, although at first it may seem like a good idea, would not really go over so well I think. That idea would get Pet seeing dozens of messages in the hopes of creating covens and at the moment I think we have enough. After so many are removed or die off perhaps he might allow them again, but until then I doubt the coven creation option will be back.
Honestly, I think the best way of creating a coven was back when I first started. You had to apply and know your stuff. Then, for some reason it changed to anyone being able to make a coven. I find this a horrible and irresponsible idea (no offense to anyone) because it allows anyone who knows next to nothing to pretend and lead people in the wrong directions. I don't think creating covens should be completely stopped as now, but it should be a review process like it once was.
I agree with Khlai, just letting anyone create a coven is a bad idea, however I do have a lack of confidence in Pet's judgment on who would be "worthy" (for lack of a better word) to create a coven. I say this site should have a council of sorts on it, and when one desires to make a coven, they submit it to the council which debates on it, so far you have the decision making left up to one man, I do not think that is best but then again that is just my personal opinion.
As for my old coven, I am on the council in another coven which is proving to be enough for me at this time, I realize I should have picked a different name for my coven but didn't think of it then, I have a website for those who were on there which were loyal, so I am content.
I agree with Klaihi as well. But there were covens of which you don't and shouldn't exactly "know your stuff". Such as The First Path, a great coven for beginners unfortunately no longer with us but you get the point.
But I couldn't help but look at your coven, Lord.
And it's funny, I remember when that coven just started out and the founder wasn't too serious about running one. Now, I'm glad to see it seems to be turning out quite well. And congrats on making council... ^_^
I am still awaiting Michaella's comment on her coven. I originally posted this up to aid my friends lol... and also to stress my own point that anyone who wants to create a coven ought to have the option to step up and prove to the mods that they are serious practioners and not roleplayers by messaging them a summary of what their coven is about and what they teach there. I think that point sums up what I want to say.
Well my coven had been about the dark arts and such, my biggest regret was the name, then again when I first joined this site I was somewhat confused, long story short, I acted on impulse and didn't think things through that well, got alot of flak for it too, insulted and called a roleplayer and all, which I was not and still am not, I know now that I should have kept 80% of my beliefs and information to myself, but heh, live and learn.
It was still one of the biggest learning curves I've been through in a long time, and besides, I no longer get the flak anymore, and am more the way I used to be a long time ago, keeping to myself and only talking about certain things to friends.
Also, thanks Britty, I have high hopes for the coven Darkness Rising.
