Tarot deck (Cthulhu)

I was in Chapters a while back and I came across a deck that interested me. It was a Necronomicon deck. As in a H.P Lovecraft Cuthulu based deck. I got the deck because The art work was nice and because I'm a fan of H.P. Lovecraft. While reading the book that came with it I learned that the deck is ACTUALLY based on his necronomicon. With a special layout and method of reading the cards. The author treats it as real saying that he believes that Lovecraft was actually astral projecting when he dreamed up his books. (I've looked it up there are others that agree with him to)

I find this interesting, but have a hard time believing it is accurate do to the fact that Lovecraft stated that he made the necronomicon up. (his reason for it if memory serves is that he found actual books of the dead to be boring for horror purposes)

So I was wondering if anyone else has this deck and or has tried anything with the Cthulhu mythos.

Gahhh!! I hate you! XD I am wanting that deck so badly. Have you tried any readings yet?

I've read the Necronomicon, and one theory I have is that he said he made it up to protect whatever he found/saw. I believe it is completely possible that he obtained the information from astral projection, but I generally regard the book as fiction.

With all of the interest in the book and the writer I'm sure there is enough energy around the spells and whatnot to make them work, though I doubt there is anyone really able to craft them properly (like with Harry Potter spells). I'm looking to get the seal of the Necronomicon tattooed on my neck as a birthday present :) It's a protective symbol made up of 3 parts: "Man", "Divinity/Enki", and "The Watchers", (for those of us who didn't know) and it represents Man's journey to join the infinite. It holds a lot of sentimental value for me.

Not to mention the symbol was used as a tattoo in Babylon AD, a movie based on one of my most favorite books ever, "Babylon Babies".

Not yet. The cards have new/different interpretations from other tarot decks. So I'm trying to get used to them first but I will be doing a reading probably Tuesday or Wednesday.

Oh cool, I have a deck like that (with meanings deviating from the classical interpretations), and it's my favorite one. Can't wait to hear how it goes :)

Took me longer to get the time to do the reading and then back to the site to post it. For the delay, I apologize.

The deck Is a bit darker in theme than most and can be used in traditional readings as (most) other decks can. The Cards do come with their own reading layout/method that can be used if you so choose. The Cthulhu layout is for a general life reading. That makes a stronger use of the trump cards.(you will have 6 in a reading)The art on the cards is beautifully done, the descriptions of the cards meanings easy to understand. And the instructions on how to do/view the reading was clear and(relatively) easy. All in all I am fond of the deck. (My opinion may be some what biased in favour of this deck do to the fact that this was my first reading that did not tell me I'm doomed in all my en devours and good luck with that :p)

There is actually a Necronomicon, and it has been translated into English. I got my (published) copy cheap at Barnes & Noble. H.P. Lovecraft got many of his ideas from the original (such as Cthulhu, a serpentine ruler of the underworld, according to the Sumerians).

There are many reasons why he would choose to lie about its existence; power and safety being among them.
