Scrying: WATER

Scying is a technique used to see the past, present and future. The most common form of scrying consists of using the elements: Air, Fire, Water and Earth. These notes are from my grandmother's BOS.

Lesson 1. WATER SCYING
Water scrying was the natural method of mirror scrying before mirrors were used.
This is seen as the most easy to use. However, the image shown reflects the element used, i.e the water can change from smooth and calm to rough and violent. Therefore the image is subject to change also.
In the past, people often used the surface of a smooth lake and it was common to scry by the light of the moon. Today, however, people use scying bowls filled to the brim with water.

As with all scrying, creating the right atmosphere is important for it to work. You will need to experiment to find what works for you. Some people like to use candles and incense, others find these a distraction.
Due to the connection between water and nature, one possibility to think of is to play a track of the ocean or water sounds to help you connect better to the element.
Some people simply stare at the the surface of the water until they begin to see visions. Others prefer to disturb the water slightly, maybe by stirring it with a freshly cut twig.
As you meditate on the water and on the question in the mind you will hopefully begin to see shapes and visions. Whether these are of a mystic origin or are a message from your subconscious doesn't really matter - it's now down to your intuition to make sense of the message.
