My book of shadows is an ordinary ring binder, it's more convenient for filing things into "spells (both as works in progress or experiments, and successes/failures)" "thoughts" "dreams" etc. I've heard others keep an online blog of shadows, and have thought of getting an electronic dictaphone and making an mp3 tracklist of shadows. Unlike the ancient grimoires it was based off, the BoS can be a diary as well as a spellbook, but the important thing is to keep records of your magical journey and spell-experimentation in the way you feel most comfortable with. Some specialty bookstores sell lovely glue-bound blank tomes with thick creamy paper, but I personally find them a little intimidating to write in, in case I make a mistake and want to tear out a page that'll leave it looking ugly, or even crossing something out, so I just pick mine up from the stationery store.

not all spells have to rhyme.... most do to make them easier to say and roll of the tongue quicker..
