Whenever I get into the state where my body starts vibrating, my heart starts to slow down or quickens. I'm kinda scared I'm dying or something. Is this normal?
When you get into a meditative state your heart will beat slower and you'll feel a sense of relaxation
by "vibrating" did you mean you felt or heard electronic "buzzing"? This could mean that you're not ready to leave your body yet, you need some more practice. I suggest you'll do more meditation and concentration.
The posts are quite right, your heartbeat slows down in meditation or trance. There are two possibilities.
First, if you are about to project for the first time, you may be experiencing some anxiety because you are excited, and unsure of the experience.
Second, you could simply be experiencing anxiety about your heartbeat slowing down, - worried that something is wrong. Either way, it is likely to be an anxiety issue. Perhaps you could help yourself by having some chamomile tea before you next pratice projecting. Good luck :)

Basically it means changes in your body, your body temperature and concentration of water oxygen in your blood also affects your heartbeat.
If you're heart beat is getting slower it could be body temperature is rising and so you're body is trying to adjust and not get too hot. It could also mean you've been holding your breathe..... that happens to me a lot I sort of forget to breathe or like take really shallow breathes so my body is trying to conserve energy and regulate the amount of oxygen going to my muscles but it means my heart is beating harder (not faster).
If you heart is beating faster then you'll probably feel like your taking breathes with a shorter interval in between, it could also mean your body temperature is falling you and body is working to try and keep it up.
Its normal, its your body at work trying to catch up with all the changes...... unless you feel an actual pain in you chest it should be fine.
I admit, I am really anxious to try Astral Projection, but I'm still new to meditation as well. It still makes me nervous because whenever I feel my heart skip a beat in the middle, I stop and take deep breaths.
When I attempt to astral project, and I get rather close to it, my heart quickens pretty much every time. I think its just because of the strangeness of the sensation. So once I get use to it it should stop. That could be whats happening to you.
