"Deep Arts is a coven where all its members are family, and as family we all help each other on our paths whether they are similar or completely different."

I read this a few times tonight, what is family, is it someone you know really well, is it someone you see everyday, is it someone you love or care about, is it having the blood running through you of relations. I would say yes to all and no to all because everyone is different but what I do know about true family is it is there when it matters, really matters.

When you read that coven speech on what it is about, what does it mean to you, curious on others views to see if we all have the same or similiar views, in some cases maybe completely different.

i would agree with your comments that family are always there for us, it is my feeling that this coven is a family as members are always there to help others offer advice and listen to their points of view. great post :-)

I brought this up because I like the idea on this kind of discussion.

Family is beyond blood, beyond distance. The family ties I think of are closer to kinship, something that actually meant something in the older days when kin was more common than family.

Family these days are just blood relations for the most part, but kin is a bond beyond all else. Kin is where you would do anything for another, kin is giving to its members, kin is true to its members. Kin isn't something that can be given limitations. Your kin will hit you for being an idiot, then pick you up and show you how to do things right. Your kin will push you to get out of your limitions, and will help you along the way. Your kin will not abandon you ever, whether you are in contact with one another or not.

That's what I think at least.

As a kid I shattered the idea of what family was to me. Family was those related to you; and because of this relation, they would be those you could always count on. This idea left early in my life when I found myself without any relatives to help my siblings and mother in our time of need. They were so quick to ask us for the change in our pockets but never answered the phone when we needed a place to call home.

Now I know family is not defined by a blood relation. Family is anyone who's going to be by your side through thick and thin. No matter how bad things get they'll risk the fall to pick you up. You can truly trust them. You don't need to wear a mask around them. You can show who you truly are and they won't run away or shut you out. They'll always be there to help you. They may not always approve of what you do, but they'll try to understand from your point of view. To me, just because someone is a relative, doesn't necessarily make them family, and a complete stranger has the potential to be part of yours. Family is all this and so much more. More than what can be put into words.

I don't have many I consider family. Most the time I'm pretty alone despite being surrounded by people. But those I do consider family, I truly cherish and would do anything to protect them. Hopefully I'll be able to see some of the people here as part of my family as well.
